Nice! What velocity did you get with the coated? Did you try doing it to the 230gr 300BLK?

First up in .45 Colt is a 305 gr. semi wadcutter and a 310 gr. gas checked round nose flat point. Both are from Lee moulds, powder coated and sized at .452
Lastly, in .300 BLK and .30/30 Winchester. These flat points are from a Mihec gas check mould with both types of pins. Boolit weights are 148 gr. for the hollow point and 152 gr. for the flat point. Both are sized at .309
About the powder coating, both the red and flat black are from Harbor Freight. The black is sprayed on with PC gun and an air compressor. I think it looks the best. The red is dry tumbled on by swirling and shaking the boolits in a plastic container with a spoonful of PC and some black airsoft BB's. The dry tumble method is way easier and less equipment oriented with no air compressor or spray gun required. The finish is a little rougher but it uses a lot less PC than spraying. I tried dry tumbling the black but the PC didn't take worth a crap!!! Both work where it counts, though. No leading in any of my test shoots![]()
did you crip the red's? doesn't look crimped at all.
what airsoft bb's did you use? the flat black is puurrdddy!!
Spawn,
They are crimped.
Gun-Adian,
Nice pc bullets, are the red single coat?
Apparently the black airsoft BB's work the best for building up the right amount of static while swirling. I guess it has something to do with the type of plastic it is. I just grabbed whatever black ones I could find locally. It's worked so far......
Got some test loads done up. 530 gr hp. And 550 gr fp. Now just to try em out tommorow. Hard to find load data for these buggers. Cross referenced a ton of different sites. Some help from some great member on here. Let's hope for the best tommorow.
