Honestly it has become the only 9mm pistol that I even remotely like. And I like it a lot.![]()
I've been eyeing up a Sam 1911 in 9mm for my wife. She has a Norc 1911 in 45 right now and wants something a bit nicer for the odd IPSC shoot she does. We borrowed an SP01 Shadow that she tried and didn't really like the weight, plus she's used to the 1911 now. She likes the look of the stainless ones, so I've been thinking of getting the military enhanced for her. I haven't seen the 9mm commanders iin stainless, so I guess full size is it. Does anyone know what front sight they use? Dovetail or staked, and if dovetail, what size? She really liked the fiber optic front sight on the Shadow, so I'll have to get one for this too.

There's the SAM Sigma 9: http://www.wolverinesupplies.com/details/23365/SAM-Sigma-9-9mm-Stainless-with-106mm-Barrel.aspx
I ALMOST bought one a few days ago before settling on a CZ 75 SP-01 Shadow.
I wonder if getting it engraved with her name and the date would be a good idea.
Norinco:
+5100 grade steel
+cheap
+reliable
+forged parts
+chrome lined barrel
-sloppy fit and finish
-no warranty
-needs de-horning
-poor triggers
SAM:
+best fit and finish for your money by far
+super tight tolerences
+backed by warranty
+made by people who have been making guns their entire lives
+great triggers out of box
-cast+mim parts
-questionable service life
-4### steel
-non chrome lined barrel
I own both and shoot both, would go for a SAM any day of the week. I would trust my life with the norc though.
New SAMs will have chrome-lined barrels.

"Anyway just a heads up advance info, for any inquiry on your prospecting buyer, after our meeting with my production heads last weekend, for any next purchase order from all buyers, we will have a very minor change on our barrels only. Any pistol unit regardless of caliber which the slide is stainless, the barrel that goes with it will NO longer be 416 stainless, but will be match with barrel 4140 in MIRROR CHROMED FINISH. This is for durability purposes, since 4140 is no doubt tougher and more reliable than stainless. You know based on experience with ATI before. We are recommending to make this necessary change for long-term sake, not just because we want to. Kindly explain to the buyer. 4140 metal on a crucial part such as a barrel is more dependable in terms of longevity and safety. So any black- slide unit pistol, barrel will be 4140 black, any stainless-slide unit pistol, we match it with barrel 4140 in mirror chromed finish (actual appearance almost the same as stainless).
Once again, this minor change is for all future deliveries. This is a "long term improvement" for everyone. Just a heads up info for you. Website specs wordings will be changed soon."
I'm trying to like the Sigma or Titan but those extended barrels just make the guns look circumcised.
I wonder what sort of recoil springs they take. Colt Defender? Officer type?

The Thunderbolts are nice guns, but the rail boots them out of classic division in IPSC and into standard. Plus it won't fit her holster with the rail either. They are coming out with a stainless Thunderbolt in 9mm available soon at Wolverine.
