Not an excuse: the specific reason I have the AR platform is because of the ease of interchangeability: this one strength is why I have bought into the AR platform and have supported their move to NR status. Two lowers, one .223 and one .308 each with identical length of pull, trigger, etc., will allow a myriad of uppers to go on them by only pulling pins and changing magazines. This DA50 .50BMG upper would require another registered lower, getting a single shot NR lower that seems to be "unobtainium" right now, or doing a lot of work to an existing lower to not be easily interchangeable with the myriad of uppers (replacing pin, catch, etc).
Sorry, but if you remove the one greatest strength I find in the platform (my opinion, mind you) then I won't be happy with the item. Would anyone buy a Savage Axis if it was $2,000 (price being strength in my opinion) or buy a Remington 700 if the action was made of cast tin (their action being their strength in my opinion.)
Plus, now that I'm not buying one please feel free to buy my share! There: A win for me (don't get what I don't want), win for you (you get one that might not be available) and a win for CanadaAmmo (they sell another one I would not have bought).![]()
Can't wait to hear shooting review and i hope vid and more pics !!
How would a lower need to be produced such that it would be non-restricted? I assume you could remove the magwell, but is there other ways to make the lower incompatible with other AR uppers?
In addition, considering the DA lower is $150, would a DA NR lower compatible with the DA50 be around the same price point?
IRG just had 100rnd linked cans of M33 ball for $349.99.CanAm has picked up PMC and I have used some PMC Bronze 50BMG before and had decent results for 'cost effective' ammo... can't call 50BMG ammo "cheap" even if $5 a shot is considered 'cheap'... lol
so here's hoping that there will be 'cost effective' ammo to shoot through this 'cost effective' shooting solution.
Tootall and CondomBoy are on their way to shoot it. Myself and others will shoot it tomorrow. I can almost guarantee you pics and video.
Some additional notes. Despite being no manual if you are familiar with doing very minor or simple work on an AR it is no big deal adapting this to your own lower. The upper receiver is an all steel construction with a MIM foregrip. The bolt uses two lugs to lock into the threaded steel receiver and the barrel is threaded into the steel receiver, no barrel extension here. It is a good solid unit in my opinion and I look forward to trying it out.
What kind of accuracy were you seeing? .5-1 moa or 1.5-3 moa?

The stuff federal sells (XM33) are factory seconds/military rejects and you can really tell why when you look at it.
The PMC is an underpowered load, brass is poor quality and I do not know what projectile they are using as I have not cut one open.
My mistake, I am confusing two types, The XM33 is AE (american eagle) or at least sold under their name. The stuff IRG was selling was said to be Federal but it also has the LC (lake city) head stamp as well. I have not fired any yet, but it is visually of much better quality. The AE X33 dont mention Federal at all on the box, only FCC, Anoka MN.
And they are LC headstamp, not FC.
Condomboy was with me, and he mentioned AE X33 being very tight in his gun also.
