2015 - My Black Rifle shoots sub-MOA groups all day long challenge! Revised Rules!

Just a thought..

Maybe sub-catagorize into different bbl lengths. Say 10.5"-14.5" & 16"-20" ?

At least the person with a short barrel doesn't have to compete against someone who has a purpose built SPR/DMR/Match Grade, purpose built type set-up.

Short barrels are typically more accurate than long barrels.

I call BS for any of the 2 or 3 star fishes. I have an SL8 that has done the odd .6 or .4 MOA group but it is more likely a consistent 3/4 to 1 MOA rifle and honestly might be the most accurate a semi can get.

I know a few guys on CGN that own Les Baer AR rifles which are guaranteed 1/2MOA straight out of the factory.

I made a thread like this along time ago, didn't get much traction. Hopefully this one will be better.

Here it is for anyone interested

I thought there was a challenge before but couldn't find it 'cause I was using challenge as the keyword. :p
I figured 1MOA is very attainable with good match ammo and the Honourable Mention list will have the majority of shooters.

I have a SL8 and a KAC SR15 Mod 2 and the KAC is so easy to shoot MOA or less even with cheap Barnaul 62 gr, my SL8 is no slouch but it will shoot MOA or less with top quality ammo...
I believe many will produce MOA or sub MOA result with their AR'S... JP.

Sounds like fun, If you want to make this a contest you need to make it realistic because a "Black Rifle" is not something realistically equipped with a 3 foot long 25x super sniper scope so optics should be limited to something you would actually use realistically on your black rifle or I call shenanigans :) I have a 5x AR-536 scope on my Tavor so 100 yards is a pretty small target even at 5x so the person with the biggest super scope to zoom in will shoot something unrealistic. One reason black rifles are not super accurate is because of the optics normally put on them lets you hit something a couple hundred yards out but not being high powered scopes it limits their accuracy overall.

If this was a challenge for everyday average accuracy, this would be a valid option. Unfortunately this is a challenge to push the level of accuracy out of everyone's rifle. Lots of inexpensive scopes out there that work well on a little recoiling 223 round. Just borrow a scope off another rifle to conduct the challenge and then return to your normal optic.

sub MOA with an AR for basically a 25 rd group.... HMMMMMMMMMM
I can't shoot that well, so I'm out LOL

Think of it as a way to help increase your skill level. You never know unless you try. I'm not that great of a shot either but I'll give it a solid attempt.

This may be the first time I have a rifle that can compete in one of these challenges. Recently poured a bunch of money into an AR with a ATRS barrel and she shoots sub moa every time I've had it out. Now if I could just decide on a load I would be all set. Look forward to trying this out.

This thread makes me think of the day I shot my PWT 3 prior to deployment in 2008. Hitting the Fig 11 from the 300 metre line with my short barreled C8 with EOTech holographic sight was damn hard.

If you can shoot <MOA sitting, it's the shooter not the rifle.
I'm guessing 99% of us will shoot off bench, or prone for those up to a challenge!
