I am not one to usually throw in on a pile-on but clearing my cache every time I visit a website isn't going to be good for business. Up until last night i have had no problems with the new site loading, although if I'm honest I peruse your site less frequently since the cutover. So at this point the site appears broken but it's just a formatting/cache issue as I'm sure you're aware; I have to scroll down 3 pages to get to the contents of the site. I'm using my primary browser, Firefox-current (v37.0.1).

I guess the point of my post is, the internet market is supremely fickle, and while you do have some deals and products not found elsewhere, there is something wrong with the site. I don't have to clear my cache from time to time to view other sites, especially sites where I can purchase things online. Have you ever had to clear your cache to shop on Amazon? I don't think so. I have worked in IT for a long time and seen how something apparently innocuous like a website change can make or break the online presence of a business.

I wish you guys all the best figuring this out.

That's what I'm seeing with Chrome. If i scroll down a full page I get a black typewritten menu of categories on a blank white background and If i continue to scroll down below that I get whatever it was I clicked on

Bunch of old people with money who aren't shopping on this new website

I dont disagree. spend some of that money on a new computer instead of the 10yr old one that you're running windows XP and IE 6 on.

Someone who understands coding knows its impossible to create a non-basic website that will function perfectly across all browsers and all generations (IE 6,7,8 etc.) therefore a web-developer or business is forced to focus on the largest percentage (most commonly used) browsers and code for them. Internet Explorer is estimated to be as low as 13% use across all platforms (mobile/desktop). Thats ALL versions of internet explorer, not just the new version which is the only still supported version. Businesses use statistics to focus their efforts on target markets. It is a waste of time and money to do otherwise.

These are my opinions as someone who has developed websites.

There is no doubt in my mind that under perfect conditions the new website looks and functions phenomenal but like you say there are customers who are not so computer literate, they prefer the "wrong" browser, they have an older computer or just prefer to use their phone or tablet to view the website. What about them? Yeah the new website is flashy but its the same as if I with a family of 6 traded the van in for a Dodge Challenger. Damn straight it looks and drives a lot better but 1 or 2 of my kids (or the wife lol) is going to have to walk.

Before we get into an e-penii sizing contest, let's keep in mind that a company exists to make money. Whether you like it or not, the old Canam site worked for more people than the new one, and people are unhappy. If you think clearing your cache every once in a while for an ecommerce site is worth the lost hits is your opinion, since you don't run Canam. Fact of the matter is, a lack of handling backwards compatibility gracefully combined with the the occasional requirement for users to clear their cache does not make for a successful ecommerce site.

frustrating, but randomly when clicking on a link I get....

What I see - IE 9. Everything bunched up along the left side ... pretty much unusable. I haven't really been to the site since the change to the new one ... cuz I can't!
