I noticed some dealers who were selling the fringe arms ones have taken them down from their sites
Being the dealer with Alexander Arms, we were originally going to manufacturer the polymer version of the .50 Beowulf mags in Korea completely with a new mold 2 years ago. We have one currently sitting with RCMP for inspection, however, numerous email with RCMP did mentioned that they will not likely going to approve any .50 Beowulf magazine.
Here is a portion of the communication I have with RCMP
"Across the spectrum of numerous inspections, RCMP-SFSS has not seen a single 50 Beowulf magazine or a single 458 Socom Calibre magazine for the AR-15 platform that is not prohibited. This is because the magazine designs we have seen have been adapted from the AR-15/M16 5.56 x 45 mm design to accommodate the 458 Socom & 50 Beowulf calibre cartridge but have never lost the 5.56 mm design features.
I am not here to argue, I am here to tell people what SFSS told me.
It really doesn't make any sense to me either, but a lot of stuffs in life doesn't make any sense as well.
looks like all 50 beowulf rifles are single shot now due to all the magazines being prohibited according to RCMP-SFSS unless pinned to 223/5.56 capacity. I knew it was only a matter of time before all the people using the 50 Beowulf mags to skirt capacity laws would ruin it for us 50 shooters.
At least I can still put 5 in my 450 bushmaster since it is an entirely different design than the 5.56/223 mags
Until we see it in writing .50 Beowulf mags should and can be used, purchased and sold in Canada.
A tech's opinion (even the RCMP-SFSS's opinion) is not legally binding. It's simply an opinion.
Unless we happen to like what the RCMP-SFSS says (special bulletin #72)....... lol
Which they are contradicting, are they not?
exactly72 specifically mentions 10-round handgun magazines - it specifically doesn't mention centrefire rifle magazines.
firearms legal insurance could be a good idea lol
but would it be valid in a case like this? I thought it excluded criminal actsfirearms legal insurance could be a good idea lol
bulletin 72 clearly only states a handgun magazine, not a centerfire rifle magazine. If there was no difference in the law we would not have different magazine capacities for those different classes of firearms in the first placeI believe there is no difference using a 96 mag in a 92 and using a beowulf mag in a 223 upper
If its legal for one it should be legal for the other.

There is a simple solution. Manufacture the 50 Beowulf magazines like Remington does with the mags for the 450 Bushmaster (notice how it is not mentioned with the 50 and 458 mags by the SFSS) yet retains the same magazine body shape as all the aboveHah, that's the same thing they told Northern Republic Magazine. The RCMP think they're being smart by saying that all .50 Beowulf mags have been modified from .223 Rem AR15 magazines just because they share a similar shape. It's ridiculous! So what if the .50 beowulf round happens to be very similar in width to 2x stacked .223 Rem rounds. That's a given, based on the limitations of the AR15 platform. The lower receiver mag well is a constant dimension. You can't change that!
