ITs a great rifle, if you want a semi, that is accurate you won't be disappointed. You could buy the tikka tac, use it and save, and when you have enough sell it and buy the fn. good resale on the tikka especially if you buy it used.

The SPR is a bolt gun.
 
I found my self at canadian tire today to get my so a basketball net for his birthday... obviously ended up in the firearms section... i have been wanting to get into the long range PR shooting and hunting. Rem 700 was my original choice strictly due to it being one of the only long range bolt action rifles that I have fired that are obtainable/ reasonably priced Su 3k. So the canadian tire guy says the Tika T3 light 989$ in 7mm will out shoot the Rem 700 all day every day. My question for the experienced long range crowd which rifle will suit my needs best I want to ring the gong at 1000m and have moose dropping power at hunting range. Price is not a factor so I'm not stuck on these 2 if there is better at a higher price point but the Rem 700 and the Tika t3 light are available to me local for pickup once I make my choice. Thanks in advance gents
 
I just bought a T3 Tactical to replace my Remington 700SPS. As soon as I pull the trigger, I feel the difference. Say what you will, Tikka's factory trigger is not messing around. With my 700, I can achieve sub-MOA grouping for perhaps first 5-15 rounds, and then I will be too tired to shoot straight. With T3 tactical, I can get sub-MOA grouping no matter how many rounds I put down range. When using Federal 7.62x51NATO (NON-match grade, 149 grain), I can put as many as 80% shots on the steel at 600 yards, and I had to use Kentucky windage because I haven't got a mildot one yet.

So easy, it almost feel like cheating... :cool:

Of course you can- because they make a good gun.

If a person hunts the shops hard an SPS can be bought, cut (forget fluted of course) and crowned, and second hand stock added for less than an LTR. Coating it will still be an extra cost. the LTR's finish is better than the SPS, but not as good as Dura/Gunkote or Cera. The stock is rather unique and can be hard to track down second hand. It's a great lil stock. But any other would do if it fits the shooter.

My opinion: Tikka's are fine rifles, especially for the average hunter (and others) that only shoot to zero and harvest. For a full time go to rifle, I would choose a 700 every time.

Shooting any light barrel 7mm rem mag for precision/long range work will be a shooting day spent waiting for your barrel to cool. My tikka lite in 243 shoots great if I shoot slow and keep the barrel cool. If you shoot fast the 3 shot will almost always be a flier.

My advice would be a tikka varminter in 7mm rem mag. Its the best of both worlds.

Once you scope, bipod up, I'm willing to bed it clocks in at hefty 13-15 LBS. I would consider these rifles more precision then multipurpose.

That all said, you will enjoy either one that you pick!

I have a Remington LTR 308 - vortex pst 4-16x50 scope - 9.658 lbs, I really like Tikka's and have a Battue 308 - leupold vx-r 1.25-4x scope 7.286 lbs, however consider the overall weight of the rifle with a scope.

How is FN SPR A5M that retail for $3400 compare to the two rifles in comparison? Is it worth to spend more to get the FN? Buy once cry once.

If you havent swapped out the stock yet, you should seriously consider the KRG Xray. KRG have a well thought out range of accessories that will fit the stock, its light weight and good quality.
Honestly i wouldnt take the MDT options over the KRG.. and ive owned them all.

no more of a tac driver than the Tikkas... at 11.9 lb empty with no scope. someone mentioned you're into custom territory at that price. you could get a rifle scoped and chassis'd with equal performance for that weight.
 
I wish Tikka dont have plastic stock. Looks el cheapo.
If comparing the Remington, CTR/Tactical, and the SPR gun only side by side, whats the upgrade on SPR that warrant the high price?
