Hardest Animal You have Ever Hunted!

What would ya bait those with, a mermaid? If so would you hook it through the lips, and if so, which ones? There isn't a lot of information available on the subject.

Changing gears for hunting season this year and giving up on trying to bag a 400+" Herd Bull Elk. I am selling my house, cashing in my stocks and moving to Scotland to hunt the Loch Ness Monster. I will be buying a Garmin Echo 551DV fish finder to locate it, not a matter of if but when!

Basing my decision on this picture that it does actually exist, wish me luck!

Ogopogo is not fair chase unless you shoot it on dry land imo.

Could not agree more! My intention is to locate the LN Monster then use a chum bag to get it close to shore. I have spoken to Daryl Hannah, she agreed to dress up in the outfit below to get it out of the water. I will kill the beast with my Winchester 1886. Daryl only agreed to come if I gave her the copyrights of all the pictures taken, she plans on selling the to the Enquirer for millions. She can have the money, I am in it for the tenderloins!

What was I thinking hunting Herd Bull Elk for all of these years???

You ought to come to Vancouver Island to get immunized.

Lots of scaredy bears.

Not in hunting season, but in summer. Any bears that see you first will be running like hell.

For me, chipmunks are the hardest...they're so fast and .50BMG never leaves anything to skin... :)

To be honest, black bear because I'm scared of them but I'm going out this fall with an experienced black bear hunter so hopefully I can get one and get over my fear. He promises me I won't be scared after I see them in their environment. He says they're more scared of me than I can imagine, even a snap of the finger will get them to run away...I don't believe him but I'll go with him to see if it works.

That's a valid opinion, but is still just an opinion. Ethics are personal thing; for instance one person might think live mermaid bait is ethical for ogopogo while the next will insist on dry flies. I could see the dry land aspect adding much to the hunt, and the danger factor rising ESP if the serpent got between me and the bait. If it dies it dies I guess.

Talibants highly elusive epically in the summer months but if you've got a good strong sniffer like I do you can smell em a few hundred meters away

Don't forget zombieland rules

Rule #2 double tap

Believe it or not but it was a lousy coyote, some guys get them walking into their deer blinds like dummies but I spent about 4 seasons and hundreds of hours to bag one. No open fields right around here and they would never be caught in one anyway, they sneak up n the thick woods around you and disappear once they scent you.

Deer are no problem, pretty much every year I tag out even a 155" B+C buck and I stumble across bears with regularity but coyotes are my Achilles heel.

A mature blacktail. Damn ghosts. I'm working on figuring them out. Hope I can before I'm too old to climb the mountains anymore.

Thank you getting my thread back on track man. Don't understand why so many want to derail an intelligent thread that is worthy of discussion and can be a lot of fun!

As I mentioned earlier, I have never been to Africa but I have always wanted to hunt Cape Buffalo. A friend of mine is going to hunt a bull elephant this year, that will be neat!

I was wondering if you could tell me, how much does it cost to go on a Cape Buffalo hunt these days? Thanks.

When it's all said and done....$4K for airfare, $20K for the hunt, $3K for taxidermy and shipping. Yeah, best part of $30K plus any extra animals you decide to shoot. put away $6K per year and you're off to the races...eventually.

Worth it.

Thanks man. For 30k, how many animals can I kill and who would you recommend as a professional guide?

I want to bring my GF who will not be shooting just observing, is that extra?

A plains game hunt will usually run about the same as a nice new quad. Buffalo will tend toward the price of a decent second-hand 4x4 and elephant hunts cost about the same as a new one. What you get will depend on where you go and/or much money you have. Observers cost extra, but that is a place where you can often bargain a bit. Tell 'em you won't go by yourself and the other guys you're talking too will let you bring the wife for nothing and they will likely cave.

Perfect and thank you for the information. She is not there to kill, she will only be there to keep me warm at night.

If I go, I will do the killing, therefore she will ride for free.

Why don't you look through to posts again. YOU are as responsible as anyone for derailing this one, bud.

Actually, a quick browse through your post history shows me you're quite the fan of running threads off the rails.

LOL, you raise a good point
I figure, fair chase for nessie would have to include scuba gear and a spear gun of sorts.
I would take a pass on seeing darryl hannah in a mermaid suit these days... Maybe selma hyak or J-Lo or sumthin but DH is gettin wrinkly and saggy haha

I've caught lotsa water monsters, biggest was 16 foot 3, just down stream of the alex fraser bridge in tha fraser. Loads o fun ;)

It can depend on location. Like spot and stalk black bear in Saskatchewan, tried that for 5 years without success. In other places like Northern BC it's easy. Tracking coyotes on snowshoes with a .22 is very very challenging too. Kudu in the Eastern Cape of South Africa were very challenging. Disappear like ghosts. But the absolute toughest hunt to me is goats in the Mountains of BC or the Yukon. It's not so much the goats, but where they live.

Sure I have pictures, but I do not post pictures of myself on the internet, sorry!

Pull the pic up on your screen, stick a piece of whatever over your face, and snap a pic of your screen with your phone to post- totally safe for those afraid of aliens and Snowden. All we care about seeing are your bulls so don't sweat your face not being present.

Toughest hunt... I walked more after Gemsbok than any other animal before finally connecting, at +40 highs in the Kalahari over multiple days that was a hot go for a northerner. Was using iron sights only, a good part of the challenge and reason for the footwork. Physically hardest was recent, a particularly heavy moose in a nasty spot I'd followed further than I bargained into muskeg. Dragging quarters on tarps in August bugs and heat was invigorating. There are better ways and I ignored all of them.

No, come to think of it a feral cat I hunted on the chicken farm as a kid was harder to find and bring down, took months which at that age made it a lion. Actual lion wasn't easy, but it just entailed not even half as much walking on tracks as Gemsbok until it tired and faced you under a tree. It frankly was about as exciting as that sounds too, but the punctuation warning growls from thick bush not a hundred yards away gave repeatedly through the tracking livened it up a good deal. Not even half as much as Gemsbok was still a bloody lot of walking for the Kalahari in their summer. Mountain Goats are another level, and I'm only getting to know that business just now and will have to report back after several experiences.

Now show us some herd bulls!

When did I say that I killed a herd bull? I said that they are the hardest animal I have ever hunted and I say that because I have not killed one yet, but not from a lack of trying! lol. The elk to date have been have been one satellite bull, a 3x3 young bull and one cow.

This is Post #60. You have been referred here once again, read and memorize what I am saying below: If you are reading this again, you have forgotten! Honestly you will probably do better on eHarmony, not interested so stalk someone else, get the message?

Original message:

I do not know you and never met you , but I noticed several comments you have made on some of my posts in other threads as well as this one and all I have to say is God you are one exceedingly boring man, that is if you even are a man, as far as I know you could be an egg sucking grandmother.

Know this, I will never respond to any other remarks or questions you have for me ever again. So feel free to comment all you want, but know that you will never get me to respond, I will just keep referring you to this post.

If you want to see pictures I have posted on CGN go to the "girls with guns" thread )
