CFB Petawawa CQB Clinic 05-06 September 2015 - Debrief here!!

Excellent news, so far everything on my end is good! Newbie question here is there any random pieces of kit people like to use for comfort/tactical? It's been a while since my last CQB experience ice forgotten some tricks for sure.

By the way, Skilledsapper. If in need of AR for this CQB then you may use mine since I will bring a back up AR for just in case, you may share a Glock 17 with me if you don't mind. You just need to bring some 9mm and .223 ammo.

I have a newbie question... a critical one... this is really fondamental to me.... is the French Fries good at :

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Funds Sent, see you Sept. 5th-6th everybody. Ricky, in case you see this, we met yesterday at the CRAFM in the Rifle bay! thanks for telling me about this, see you soon!

Ok. I'm in too! I'll be bringing extra pistols with holsters in 9mm if anyone needs. I get 1st pic though :p

I also have an extra plate carrier that can carry 3 pistol and 3 rifle mags if anyone doesn't have time or funds to pick up web gear before the big weekend.

Looking forward to it!

:) now i gotta receive all my gear :S

Your EMT was perfectly done. Just down to a FEW spaces left. Wow, who woulda thought that we could fill 28 shooters back in the June clinic, and now we are approaching the next batch of 28 shooters?

Someone always has spare / back up gear to bring and lend out. I always bring a kit bag full of spare pouches/ holsters/rigs/vests, etc... It's all good!

Hey, I love that picture of Danny's already! I'm getting hungry, Hey, I AM Hungry... that's my handle!

Cheers

Hey guys,

I just starting shooting in July and look forward to learning from everyone in Sept. here's my loadout:
PWS MK118 .223 WYLDE, Aimpoint PRO, will have 4mags
HK P30L with 4mags

Since i had no holsters or rigs or anything, i spent the day shopping around trying to figure out how this all works and what could/would work...so this newbie is looking for your advice/constructive criticism:
I bought (all in MultiCam)
1xCondor Sentry lightweight Plate Carrier ( not even sure i can fit all the pouches optimally but we'll see)
1xTriple Kangaroo Mag pouch
1x Kangaroo Mag pouch
1x BlackHawk! Serpa Level 3 auto lock duty holster for my H&KP30L (black)

here is my super newbie questions...

1) generally speaking, do the pouches come with the necessary attachments to fix them onto the plate carrier? i often see separate attachment straps being sold, and i'm afraid that i might receive all my gear last minute without the necessary accessories and won't have time to set it up for sept. 5th. Thoughts?

2) my PWS, is a .223 Wylde so I can shoot .223 or 5.56, but I already have 1000rds of .223. Having not found it on the approve list, is there a particular reason why it wouldn't be accepted? from my little knowledge, the casing seem identical but the 5.56 has thicker walls to withstand higher pressure while the primer is less sensitive...
all that being said, can i shoot .223 or was it omitted for a reason that i clearly don't know?

thanks guys, talk soon

most pouches and accessories have the molle straps built in.

.223 = 5.56 = good to go.

For the SKS users coming....someone can use my new belt if they want :)

I was looking for a way to carry my 5 round clips and tried them in my M1 Garand ammo belt .
It will hold 100 rounds of SKS ammo on 5 round stripper clips and they can be pulled out easily .

Nice retro M1 Garand setup there! Glad that it can work for the SKS crowd.

Now just a reminder since we are a week and a half away or is it 2?

Gloves....

Bring some gloves (not the ski glove or work glove or the snowmobile glove), Head over to Home Depot or Rona or Marks Workwear or your local bicycle shop or local snowboard shop, or Cambodian Tire or TSC Farm Supply... :)

Get / Bring a few pairs of gloves that you can try out and test. We will be carrying out all sorts of skills and drills and here is the perfect opportunity to see/find what works for you and your game.

You could be stupid like me and deliberately (I know I'm stupid, and here's the proof) shoot the CQB match barehanded with a new rifle only to discover a few sharp edges on the stock furniture.

And yes, I did bleed all over my buttstock (FDE colour and blood really stand out) until lunchtime when I could dig into the first aid kit. You do keep a first aid kit in your competition rucksack don't you ?

Speaking of first aid kits.... What's the best first aid kit for this game?

Answer: The ONE you have on hand. ha ha ha ha What did you expect I would say?

So bring a few different pairs of gloves with great dexterity and range of motion and then give them all a try. You will be surprised to know that I prefer mountain biking gloves or MX gloves (I ride an adventure touring bike) since they give me the padding in the right places.

You could always try a favorite of many agencies... Mechanix Gloves. They come in all sorts of colours and camo patterns, except pink Hello Kitty. I know, I have searched all over for Pink Hello Kitty gloves!

Cheers,
Barney

Wow summer flew by as usual! Can't wait to hit the range and meet some gun crazy ppl like myself! Oh btw I have a treat for the SKS crowd, a very unique build hopefully the AR guys don't get jealous. Hahahaha

I need them Hello Kitty seat covers! It's just that my 2010 Tacoma has air bags all over the seats so I gotta find some seat covers that are air bag compatible... ha ha ha

Cheers,
Barney
