ACR vs XCR: comparison video series.

MAC did a whole bunch of comparative videos with the acr and the scar, he actually picked the acr as better.
I guess that means that an xcr is better than a scar?
doubtful

I would like to see video, or at the very least pics of what jammed up the ACR and how. Same for whatever numerous failures with the XCR that were stated in the video.

Personally I had the XCR-L with the light profile barrel. I had to let it go to be able to buy more guns for the channel, that is the only reason I sold it. I was very happy with it and I did not put a sub MOA expectation on a intermediate range rifle. It is a fun run and gun rifle and it will serve you well in the scenario mentioned above ( 3 running coyotes). It was never intended as a DMR so don't expect to do too much long distance hunting with it with pinpoint accuracy. For what it is intended for, its great. That being said I used in harsh cold weather and some muggy hot conditions without any issues. I also do not foresee a situation where a normal civilian like me would have to use it in extreme conditions. so never tested it that way.

In a zombie apocalypse scenario it will do minute of man..erm...zombie easily with a hot or cold barrel. Not unlike most intermediate range rifles.

I would love to try an ACR sometime, I have not had the pleasure.

This was my XCR-L....I miss it now ...sniff

And your XCR was awesome while I had it. Complemented the Tavor nicely. Would not have sold it except that I had ended up trading one of my Tavor's for an NR ACR w/Bartlien barrel and it shoots like a laser, so a better suite for me considering the Tav allready does the "minute of zombie" you mention.

Remember I am only a few miles away and you have the option to try any of my gear you wish!

Thanks, I might just take you up on that for a review or two :)

Just because you can not do it and you need a semi auto rifle to take down 3 running coyotes, that does not mean it is 'not doable'.

Read the thread again... I never once said "it wasnt doable" (totally depends on the situation wouldnt it?) im simply implying a semi auto makes the situation so much easier, hence why an accurate semi auto is so sought after for coyote hunting.

Which is why I'm surprised the HK SL8 isn't more popular. Both the ones I had were capable of shooting 1 moa with quality factory ammo and slightly better with handloads. With the Hera Arms lower they are a very comfortable rifle even though they are a little heafty.
It may be possible with a bolt action but it would definitely be easier with a semi. Some people prefer a little more of a challenge I guess :)

Anyways.

Back on topic.

Detailed pics and or vid of the failures.

I almost suspect that ejecting brass is bouncing off the ground and back into the chamber as the rifle is exactly parallel to the ground and not angled in any way.

I'll see what can be dug up for a future vid, but honestly this question wasn't anticipated so detailed pics weren't taken and the rifle is gone. If IN MY OPINION the rifle is a bench rest only gun it has little interest to me as I can build a bench rest rifle more affordably.

It wasn't bouncing off of the ground and back into the chamber. The ejection pattern of the ACR would make that difficult to say the least.... and the failures continued until a detailed cleaning.

But it's good to match the CGN username to the YouTube account ;).

You should read your own post again. You never said it was not doable and you never said semi auto rifle make it easier to drop 3 running coyotes.

could you explain the failures you also mentioned were had with the XCR but did not give details of? RA has claimed all previous issues with the platform had been repaired with the new version, curious if they were actualy correct and these are new problems that are now becoming apparent or just more of the same.

My XCR latest gen (2014) has been flawless. But then, I'm just bush shooting. Not running and diving into skid on the ground, or hopping in place, or firing whilst standing on my head, simultaneously shoveling dirt into the action.

That being said the ACR is a nicer rifle.

Bench rifles have little interest for me as well, so in that, we are on the same page, but I do bench the rifles to initially zero the rifle. It has it's purposes.

I even wonder if you had an early gen rifle? both of my ACRS, I could place a box 3"x4" three lanes over and 90% of the brass would land in it. I am not popular when the lanes are busy...

It is a shame you are so far away, I love to find reasons to goto the range for testing "this and that."

My acr ejects 15 feet away as well at the 4 oclock position, all within a 3foot by 3 foot area.
One thing is true about the rifle is that it really gets the brass out of there hard!
It ejects further than my cz858!

Still doesn't beat the T97 brass huckers though! On setting 1 it would do as you describe. On setting 2 it would tripple it!

In the vids I'm pretty sure I said I was speaking from past experience with the XCR. The experience I have with keymod is limited to friends rifles, including the one in the video, although at 17:40 of pt 1 you can see how well that friend cleans the rifle and there were no failures ;). To be fair neither rifle failed in any way at the bench.

Although with the newer XCR Keymod version they still don't have the rifle squared away in my opinion and we can expect to see future refinements in subsequent generations. In regards to what failures.... well pretty well everything you can think of with past generations that was known to go down.... did.
