Based on what Jerry at Mystic Precision has said in the past, the looseness/slop in the bolt is inherent in the bolt design! I got a .338 HS late last spring but haven't shot it yet, probably in April! Nice rifles!
Expensive to shoot I guess, I got a deal on the EE, 150 rounds lapua, .338LM 250 scennars, for $600 delivered, just was busy getting the bent 10tr taken care of and building the gun room, gonna shoot the new 10tr Friday and wait till early spring for the .338!! Looking forward to it, let us know how yours works!
Once I got a look at them I emailed the guy for the rest, but they were all gone, lots of brass to reload too! The local CTC has S&B for about $4 per round.
Wow, same rifle....Savage 110 FCP HS in 338. I just picked mine up a couple of days ago, lol! Not a lot of threads on CGN about this rifle.
Floating bolt-head. It will never feel like it's on rails the way a 1 piece will.Well not hugely gross, just excess in my opinion. My buddys xbolt is like knife through butter smooth and no slop in it.
But I like my savages.
Got my Savage 111 Long Range Hunter .338 all stock with Vortex Viper 6 - 20 50mm getting 3 shots almost touching at 200 yards. Using 285 grain Hornady fmjbt with 84 grains Accurate Mag Pro. Have to save for one of those chassis systems for it. Shoots good even with hot barrel.
My 10 TR also shoots about the same. Savage are sure good shooters.

We should start a thread on these,,, and other .338 so as not to muddle the 10tr, once we start shooting them!! The owners will come out of the woodwork to discuss and help out I am sure!
The barrel has groves, 10 round mag and bolt handle, choice of barrel length and price. I think thats it.
10TR was introduced just for leo and military. Then they decided to sell to civilians
And i know the 10tr has 5r barrel, dont know if the other does or not
Does anyone can tell if the 10 FCP-SR have the 5R barrel?
I'm very balanced between Savage #10 models, probally I'll go for a10TR, but still not sure.

I'd have no problem taking my 20" 10TR but it would depend on your tolerance for a little extra weightIn your opinion, would the 10TR be a good choice for a dual purpose hunting/shooting rifle?
