Savage 10TR le/military

Based on what Jerry at Mystic Precision has said in the past, the looseness/slop in the bolt is inherent in the bolt design! I got a .338 HS late last spring but haven't shot it yet, probably in April! Nice rifles!

Wow, same rifle....Savage 110 FCP HS in 338. I just picked mine up a couple of days ago, lol! Not a lot of threads on CGN about this rifle.

Expensive to shoot I guess, I got a deal on the EE, 150 rounds lapua, .338LM 250 scennars, for $600 delivered, just was busy getting the bent 10tr taken care of and building the gun room, gonna shoot the new 10tr Friday and wait till early spring for the .338!! Looking forward to it, let us know how yours works!

WTF???? Are you serious???? I feel like I just got kicked in the balls, how the hell did you score that deal????? Did you post pics of it anywhere, was it hideously disfigured, or burned in a fire before you bought it? Those things run $1999 at Cabelas....

Once I got a look at them I emailed the guy for the rest, but they were all gone, lots of brass to reload too! The local CTC has S&B for about $4 per round.

We should start a thread on these,,, and other .338 so as not to muddle the 10tr, once we start shooting them!! The owners will come out of the woodwork to discuss and help out I am sure!

My 2 cents

Got my Savage 111 Long Range Hunter .338 all stock with Vortex Viper 6 - 20 50mm getting 3 shots almost touching at 200 yards. Using 285 grain Hornady fmjbt with 84 grains Accurate Mag Pro. Have to save for one of those chassis systems for it. Shoots good even with hot barrel.

My 10 TR also shoots about the same. Savage are sure good shooters.

Nice! I wanted to get one of those long range hunters. They were on for such a steal too but couldnt talk myself intp getting back into 300wm.
I sold my accustock from the 10tr in persuit of raising funds for chassis but 900 for hs3 with butstock and one mag, I quickly regretted my decision. Cant afford to spend that mich in current economical climate

Can someone please tell me the difference between the savage 10TR and the current 10 FCP-SR?
I have shot my friends 338 lapua and would like to move into something that I can take hunting and target shooting. ( I already own a 308 so I wanted to stay with that caliber). A dealer who advertises here has 3 10TRs in stock at about $150 less than a FCP-SR.

Thanks

The barrel has groves, 10 round mag and bolt handle, choice of barrel length and price. I think thats it.
10TR was introduced just for leo and military. Then they decided to sell to civilians

And i know the 10tr has 5r barrel, dont know if the other does or not

I'm not sure if there is enough interest in the 110, but I'm brand spanking new to this rifle so I have no idea if there are a lot of other 110 owners out there. Thread started and hopefully some others chime in :)

Does anyone can tell if the 10 FCP-SR have the 5R barrel?

I'm very balanced between Savage #10 models, probally I'll go for a10TR, but still not sure.

Well, I found the answer by searching a bit, and I'm pretty sure that it is equipped with a standard button rifled barrel, instead of the 10TR who's equipped with a 5R barrel. I like the 10 rounds mag of the 10 FCP-SR, but for good precision barrel I should go with the 10TR. I prefer a superior barrel that a bigger mag :) A well placed round make useless others rounds waiting in the mag ! Haha. Not true in target/long range shooting, I know...

In your opinion, would the 10TR be a good choice for a dual purpose hunting/shooting rifle?

Yes for the 20 inch, I got tge long one with a 5.5-22x50 nxs and never in a million years would I lump that around in the wood! I would only concider it if I would be hunting in a stand or blind with 300 -800 yard shot. Shorter them that I have my rfb and BF m14

I'd have no problem taking my 20" 10TR but it would depend on your tolerance for a little extra weight

I was actually thinking about getting a 10TR in 20" for hunting. I remember even my 24" in the factory Accustock wasn't very heavy at all, but as it sits today, not ideal so I was thinking about grabbing one of those 20 inchers from SFRC...just waiting for one of their 10-13% off sales :)

I jave the 24" 10TR and its my do everything gun. Deer hunting, coyote hunting and even gopher slaughter from time to time. Sure its heavy but i have huge confidenxe in the gun. Its cold bore is just as good as its hot/fouled bore.
