Given the model I'm pretty sure they are held in by rivets.

None the less, if it's just the case of screws the a simple screw driver shold suffice for a stock swap YET I don't see that on the Type 81.

Do you????

Cuz I didn't when I was handling it at the sportsman show

Even with the AK, Romanian, polish, Russian etc... trunnions all fit differently do they not???

There's about a half dozen ways/shapes based on country but mostly milled versus stamped. The 81 rivet system is overkill. It's as if the decided that they'd rivet the trunnion and stock in one go.

Hey guys,

Truly appreciate some of these responses and facts. But I think what we all really need is an official TI response to my 6 questions. Transparency and detail go a long way, and I'm sure a lot of us want to make sure they are making the right investment with their 100% up front pre purchase.

Cheers

^^^^ yup.

Seems that whoever the hell is building these T81 (Emei, norinco etc...) would know. Where is that guy who has friends, cousins working at these plants now?

They probably don't know. Selling stuff doesn't necessarily make them technicians.

Not too many other industries would get away with a lack of info on key topics for a product pre-sale. Well, what can I say? I think some answers to these questions should be deducible from the prototype they have and from their business contacts in China, no? Any ways, for the sake of future customization you think the fixed stock is the safest best Deckard?

Business models are changing.

Perhaps we should look at the Type 81 pre sale as a sort of Kickstarter.

Those with the funds and patience can buy into a small gamble. Those without, carry on and don't worry about it. Find something that captures your imagination and interests.

In this case it's a draw. Both seem to attach the same way with rivets. That makes sense that the receiver is the same, unlike AKs. Nobody envisions the stock ever removed by the user. It's almost always forbidden by armies.

What do you want to do? I've converted many guns in creative ways.

The folder is strong and reasonably comfortable from the side. The butt area is metal and not condusive to adding a rubber pad, whereas the wooden one would likely use the cheap, readily available AK pad. A wood stock is better for launching grenades since the butt is placed on the ground. I can see a replacement side panel for the folder made by a 3D printer that includes a riser. That's because people will scope these sooner or later.
It depends.

Such as a Beretta M9?

Also rooting for the success of another solid and exciting platform. Choices are good, and it's a fun and inexpensive caliber to shoot.

Our pinned mags likely keep too many Yanks feeling envious about much of our firearms situation.

Glorious 7.62*39 comrade. Honestly I'm having trouble tracking down good inexpensive ammo atm. YES, I know this is mildly off topic; but if anybody would be willing to post a link for good ammo for our incoming T81's I'd appreciate. Cheers.

I was hoping to be able to switch between the traditional wood stock and something like this http://www.zahal.org/products/tactical-folding-butt-stock-cheek-piece-for-vz-58-cz-858?path_parent=219005 or this http://www.zahal.org/products/m4-folding-buttstock-for-vz-58-polymer-version?path_parent=219005 at my will. Then I heard that they won't be removable like the VZ, so then I thought maybe I should get a folding for their extra functionality and hope for the introduction of nice side panels, maybe with a cheek riser. Now I'm just confused and waiting for some answers before I decide essentially.

I can tell you that stock is way worse than the Chinese folder. It wouldn't be too difficult to manufacture a metal 'wedge' (goes into receiver) and attaching an M4 buffer tube to it. This is what I did for fun. It's a side folder.

Hah, that's a really cool VZ comrade. I had another question for you actually. Do you think the T81 will accept muzzle devices?

the muzzle is not threaded but any gunsmith could thread your type 81 for you, he would just have to remove the ribbed sleeve. who knows, maybe if popular demand dictates, ti might import a future version with a threaded muzzle from factory

Do not refer to me as comrade. I have never fought alongside the NDP.
