So, I confirmed last night that the least expensive 3rd party importer is not a site sponsor, so cannot be named here. Suffice it to say that they are the Angstadt Arms importer for Canada... Anyhow, they will import a parts kit for a $35 fee, plus $26 shipping from their Penticton office to your doorstep. $61 CAD all-in, for the math-impaired.
I then called HKParts.net this morning and ordered up the 10.4" MR556 Barrel Conversion Kit. That's the only part that hurt - $589.95 USD converted from our painfully weak CAD! HKParts.net were happy to take my Cc information once I told them they would be shipping to a U.S. FFL for export. I gave them the Yucca, AZ address of the importer's U.S. office, they sent me a receipt with tracking #, and I provided the tracking # to the importer for follow-up.
The above was all I had to do to get the ball rolling. Now the wait begins for the next monthly import of items by the importer, after which I too shall possess "the gun that killed Osama". I can always revert the carbine to something akin to the USMC M27 IAR by simply reinstalling the 16" barrel. Yay!
I hope this helps anyone else looking to import parts from the U.S. Nothing to fear aside from the currency conversion. Otherwise it is a very easy process!
Nice take the lead.
