The M1 Garand Build Thread

Now my next was on a Springfield receiver that has the year appropriate bolt and trigger assembly. I even have a '43 SA barrel that goes with it. Hopefully I will someday find all the parts to make it correct. Here she is,

Thanks for looking guys and don't be afraid to keep posting your projects.

On a side note I have been finding parts on ebay. I know with our dollar things are kind of sh!tty, but beggars cannot be chosers. I did find a couple sellers on the US sight that would ship even though they never put Canada as a shipping option. The stock I used for my Springfield build I got for $100 + $30 shipping out of the states. It does not hurt to ask...worst they can say is no.

That looks like an inferior commercial conversion !

I ordered the $650 USD .308 Garand Guy parts kit from A z t e ch Armory. It will have a used .308 barrel and probably mismatched wood, but I want a shooter. Has anyone got a parts kit from Garand Guy?

Just found this thread today good read. I have two on the go at once on Breda's pretty much just need barrels for them now, although seem to be getting spare parts for a third. One with brand new boyds stock and one older sanded re finished by bubbas grampa. So for 320 us I can get pull thru reamer and go no go gages from Clymer or does anyone have any for sale here. Haven't ordered barrels yet but figure new is best way to go as I want reliable shooters.

Check with Nick at Vulcan Gun Refinishing, he assembled my second Garand, and might be able to find a barrel and finish up the assembly for you. A lot of people regard his work very highly, myself included. As a bonus he can re-park your parts and fix any pits or scratches. I'm considering sending him the one I built first for a refinish.

I just revived this message from ebay today for a trigger assembly i bought it was everything except the hammer

RESTRICTED ITEM

We are writing to inform you that your recent GSP transaction from drambo87 cannot be completed.

The item was stopped at the Global Shipping Center, and has been restricted from international shipment. The item will not be shipped forward to its final destination.

I didn't realize that a M1 trigger group was a restricted item? I know shot gun trigger groups and other parts are, but for the Garand?
I found my trigger group on ebay but the seller never went through that danged globle shipping program ether (this was almost two years a go though when that gsp started showing up on a lot of auctions).

If anyone's looking for additional receivers, SFRC just put a few more up for sale @ $24.95 ea. Last I checked they had about 175 units left. Just thought I'd give you all a heads up...

Cheers,
hsld
I was hoping these things would dry up, too many people buying up parts jacking up prices. Glad I have parts to complete 2 with 3 spare receiver for the late future.

Looks like I've joined this club with the addition of a Breda receiver tonight. Now the fun begins of collecting and/or waiting for parts to be in stock.

What are the requirements to buy one of these receivers? Living down south I know I cannot buy any...sure would like too though. Just curious since these are considered relics, do they have to be registered?
Thanks in advance.
R

In Canada they are non restricted, all you need is a firearms licence (PAL). They are not registered, nor do they have to be unless the barrel length is under 18.5 inches.
