USPSA shooter shooting IPSC in Canada.. Black badge needed?

I agree that its a first check to make sure they aren't totally unsafe, and have no hope of developing the coordination to eventually be safe.
But people get through who probably should have been told to try again.
No system is perfect.

Passing all the exercises is still not a given that they have successfully completed the BB course, it is still up to the instructor, if there is any reason he is not 100% satisfied that they can compete without being a danger to themselves or others then they should not receive a pass. Period.

This thread was started by a Canadian living in the US, who is a regular USPSA competitor and wants to shoot occasionally in Canada. The answer he's getting is that he must take the $300 BB course. It sounds to me like it's about the money.

And that is why I'll continue to only shoot in the USA. Forget paying 300$ for a course, plus 200$ for magazines and 180$ for ammo.
When I can drive an extra 2 hours for a whopping 20$ in fuel round trip. Yeah my day will start at 6 am instead of the 8 am I get to wake up for local matches (Custer, WA) to go to marysville, wa.

Some questions for all the Black Badge instructors:

Do you carry liability insurance in case some should get hurt or, God forbid, killed while taking the course?

If so, how much does it cost?

If not, why not? Hoping nothing happens?

$200 for magazines is a small price to abide Canadian law
$180 for the ammo is a small price for opportunity to shoot 500 rounds in couple days. Buy commercial reload if you want to save money.
Anyhow, don't get the door hit your back when you go. You won't be missed.

PS: I am pretty sure you failed to explain your case you your local BB coordinator. As Sean said earlier, it is quite obvious most of your issues come from your own attitude.

My Form 6NIA has a spot for ammo that I can bring down with me for a match. I put down reloads and factory ammo on my currently approved form. Is there no ammunition allowance in the Canadian version of the 6NIA?

I don't need a form for importing only need Canadian registration. 120 USD is 162 Canadian not that much of a difference.

I did tell him I'm also American. He stood by the Canadians need black badge.

I'll continue to use my full capacity 18 rounders that hold 19 South of the border.

Please explain how what issues come from my attitude?

I rather not jump hoops for nothing, when I can do the exact and better where I'm at right now? This form is full of egos.. I'm glad I'm not shooting in Canada. So much for friendly Canadians.... Americans are way nicer online and offline.

Lately they have been harping on ammo.... A couple years ago I was required to provide a completely itemized list by manufacturer...... Now I just submit a separate page with all possible ammo on it.... I think I'm approved for like 35k rounds of ammo

At our club our instructors teaching BB have additional insurance paid for by our club. Not sure who is the provider. Anyone reading this who provides 'instruction' would be well advised to look into insurance.

Your attitude is asking questions about the way things work... .. Generally this isn't allowed in IPSC... You take it or leave it (as per the Regional director)

I thought you'll be shooting your Baby Glock for the CCW matches? Or is mag cap the reason you shoot the CZ?

Well I was being a bit general by saying that's what I use high capacity magazines for. Your right, I use mag pul 17 rounders with my baby Glock. I'm going to try to see if they would let me shoot two guns for conceal carry, but not sure how that would work with holsters and such. So probably would be a no go.
