Best bang for ur buck upgrade for me was an adjustable trigger
I have a SAM Thunderbolt 5" and i'm thinking about swapping the hammer for a Wilson Combat skeletonized hammer. I just like the look of that hammer better on a 1911. Would this hammer be compatible with the parts that are already in the pistol, or would i also need to buy a different spring or sear? I haven't taken it apart and i'll most likely have a gunsmith do this and would like to know ahead of time if I need to bring him more than just the pistol and the hammer. Thanks for any help.

Upgrades,
Ed Brown oversize barrel bushing, slide stop, Hogue walnut grip. Trigger job with trigger stop.
Lots of elbow grease, a little cnc machining, beat blast and blue.
Love the bluing job. Looks great. Norinco gun?
That is one beautiful and extremely tastefully modified 1911 ww270win, at first guess I wouldn't think it was a Norinco!
I guess I'll post one of my project 1911's then..............the project is NOT aimed at visual perfection right now.
Started life as a boring plain jane Norinco 199 Govt Sport Model....
Personally I absolutely HATE the rib along the top of a 1911 slide so I was bored and busted out the set of files and had at it for a while after I stripped the slide of bluing.
After the rib was gone I gave deepening the slide serrations a go and quickly buggered that up so it's clearly visible the files were not aligned properly but I can touch those up and fix that later. (
Then it was put back together with all Wolf Springs inside, fitted a Fusion K-Hole Adjustable trigger, Wilson Combat Magazine Well & Pachmayr Signature Grips.
Ran it like that for many months.........then as of lately I got fed up with the factory Norinco 2 piece extended magazine release so installed a Fusion Standard Length Checkered Release & a unknown brand bushing compensator
Now the pistol is just waiting to get back out to the range and see how well I can shoot it now.
Like I said it sure ain't pretty but is not complete but still a shooter in the works.......unsure how I will refinish the slide and frame and I'm leaning towards an arched mainspring housing to further enlarge the grip a bit.
Thanks to some one on one personal instruction from a very reputable local shooter my groups sizes have been cut in half!!
To that I greatly thank our super awesome moderator SLAVEX, I continue to practice what you taught me recently and it sure shows!

The compensator is much more effective on the barrel as compared to on the slide. the purpose of the comp is to direct the gasses upword which keeps the muzzle muzzle down as the bullet is exiting. Too many gasses escape out of the exit of the comp as it is not tight with the bullet diameter losing the effectiveness. Nice gun, but this is a pointless design. Sorry.

well, I have a GSG1911 that I have modified a little bit. nothing special to look at, so no pictures, but it works well. Just your standard issue GSG1911 with wood grips.
I did the full ZRTS kit. Works well and looks nice. no side barrel screw.
I added metal sights as the plastic ones are a serious joke. The rear sight is adjustable as well. Simple 3 dot sights, looks classic, and works well. Sight picture is very similar to my SR1911
I got rid of the ambi safety and added a safety from a Ruger SR1911, as that is my other 1911.
I removed the stock mainspring housing and installed one from a Ruger SR1911 as well. It took some fitting as the frame of the GSG is a bit shorter internally. I previously had this same MSH in another GSG pistol and it fit perfectly, so I know its not the MSH itself that is longer but that the frame is shorter on this specific pistols frame.
I did some minor polishing and fitting when it was apart, but nothing serious.
The idea was to make it feel like my SR1911 so that when using this one with the cheap ammo, my muscle memory would develop.
I also added a rubber bushing and short secondary spring to the base of the recoil spring. The spring in the ZRTS kit is just so weak. I didn't like this long term due to the beating the slide/frame interface would take. It took a couple of iterations of the spring and choosing different rubber pieces to get it just right, but its really nice now.
oh, I also have 8 mags for it too. Have taken them apart and polished/dehorned parts internally so they are really smooth to load and feed.
Pistol works great, feeds everything in HV .22lr ammo that I have tried. No problems and its accurate too, for what it is. Golf balls at 7m if I do my job.

Yes 9mm. I love the grips. One of those things I should have done sooner.
Haven't shot with the wolff springs yet. Just put them in the other day. Off to the range in the morning to try them out.
