Are we in an SKS price bubble?

Yea those were all black bolts but were going for $2000 a crate so works out to be $200 a rifle.

I picked this '55 up today for $220. It's a refurb but nicely done, all blued and matching if you don't count the ###X's and bore looks brand new. Something I'll sell down the road after prices "go up."

Nice, was the bayo blued too or painted, I have a couple blued bayo refurbs and they are awesome, whatever factory does that takes great care with the refurb, the total blueing job was great!

Not a problem, but they are advertised as being in "original cosmoline". When it is that thick, and fresh, I have to wonder what is being hidden.

Not seing the problem, most of the sks i see have not been cosmoized and show some rust, i do believe most of those come throught
North sylva. These have been protected,, great, price is a bit high but if they have non refurb all matching, it aint bad!

Oh that was hical, nothing to do with what I posted and wasn't where those pictures were taken. I just thought it was a cool picture to share.
Ok so spill the beans, where are those ones at? You should go pirchase a few more, good prices, was that lever?
Hi cal ones look exactly the same, look dipped in pure lanolin !

It's all original bluing, and polished silver bayonet which is traditionally found on non-refurbs (dull grey found on arsenal rebuilds). I do not buy any SKS that has paint on it. The only thing that appears to have been replaced on this sample is the stock. which still bears a Tula star and has been properly re-stamped to match the rest of the rifle. All in all for $220 it's a good buy in my mind.

Are there any SKS without the bad welding job on the magazine available - are there different ways of pinning the mag or does one have to get an SKS-D with a pinned magazine?

There are 3 ways I've seen. First being the franken pin with an ugly weld job to the bottom of the mag, second being a nicely set plug in the bottom of the mag and third being my personal favorite, a neatly placed pin on the bottom of the follower.

They have a few laminated ( $ 249.00 and Birch ( 239.00) SKS's in stock they rate them as VG condition

BLUED FINISH,, OPEN MILITARY SIGHTS, BAYONET, OIL BOTTLE, SLING, CLEANING ROD, RUSSIAN MANUFACTURE, REFURBISHED

I have never dealt with them , this is just to add info to the thread .

They're long gone from the west coast from what I've seen. Went to Chilliwack CT yesterday and they were all mismatched mags and just rough. There were a few that were completely sanded down with stock repairs, rusted parts and generally pretty beat up.

There are a few new ones in the Duncan Store on the island. $200- ish I believe.

I have been buying a few, however when the price rises, ( already has at some stores) I will not be getting any more, they will be creeping closer to the price of other rifles and the ammo is also getting more costly. So I hoarded enough of that to do me for a while! If I see a great sale, I will buy, but when the price of a regular old refurb gets above $250. I don't need any more,,, just want!
Don't get me wrong, I understand they are still a pretty good deal if you can find one in good condition,( refurb, new barrel, trigger group etc in good condition), blued is nice but I also like a good parkerized SKS too!
My local CTC says his cost will go to around $200 from NS, North Sylva needs to up their game with taking care of these milsurps. Looking at some pics here of Cosmo covered SKS helps keep the rust off while they are stored waiting for us to buy them. Also need to bring in the crates, I still need an SKS and mosin crate!

I was fondling one of my SKS last week, I was pushing the follower down with my finger, not really paying attention. I suddenly realized it was going down way to much. Looked and noticed the pin that was welded to the follower was gone. It had snapped off cleanly, it was such a flat, smooth cut.

I have no idea how long it had been gone. I am just glad I didn't run into any troubles with it. Just mentioning it so others keep an eye on the pin.

I've also had a franken pinned one have the plug fall out, now that I think about it. It just broke right at the weld. I'm a little more fond of the riveted plug now.

Prices are not in a bubble, they have been artificially suppressed for so long that some people accepted them as fairly priced at that level.
