Well here it is.
As you can tell from the pictures, I am pretty happy with my purchase
it is far better than I expected
bolt and bore are pristine

Nice upper! Are you going to get it refinished? Or are you going to leave it as is?

I really dont know, im on the fence on this one, i really like the fact that the wear is due to it actually been used, it has an air of authenticity, but on the other hand i could easily get this refinished. I really dont know.
One thing I really love is the weight, holy this thing is really well balanced on this cc 15.7 with the vltor stock.

Well I just couldn't help putting a CQB upper together with the extra parts I had.
I don't think Diemaco ever produced this configuration with an A1 upper but I had to give it a shot to see how I liked it.

Same with the rear sight, the R is missing. On early Colt supplied C H uppers you can see where it was taken off with an end mill. The Diemaco forgings never had the R to begin with.If you look at the front sight the arrow will be there but not the word "up" since it was not bilingual and was deleted from the CF TDP.
Only in Canada. Guess the French wouldn't understand.
Grizz
The staking on the bolt carrier was done by a wpns tech and the middle centre punch mark indicates ejector spring update completed.
The CAF is too cheap to buy us proper gas key stalking tools![]()

My son and I are playing with the C8 upper and some lowers. I'm really warming up to it...it's a very nice compact length. I'm only changing the charging handle as the surplus one I bought comes in 3 different shades of grey, including parts coloured with a black sharpie.

Is this how it would of looked if an R wasn't re-stamped in there?
Could be. My example goes a little deeper so it's a perfect circle. Interesting upper you have. It looks like it was anodized after it was restamped? So maybe it never made it to Diemaco and Colt stamped the R in so they could use it?

As for jman and 8 ball.... I'm sure you guys could easily sell those uppers/barrels to someone who can't afford or find one of these surplus ones. Or you could use the barrel for a C8A1 clone.
Please tell me more about the C8a1. Basically a standard C8 upgraded to a flat top upper receiver?
