Ardent back to you, ''Where are you along with this new project ?''
Best Regards,
Rob
Barrelled action is complete by Martin, I'll be putting irons on it and stocking this spring / summer. Aim is to have it on the rocks chasing goats by Sept.
One of the reasons I am contributing to posts made by him, as one of his posts were replied to with reference to me ...
We are in different boats ...
Well, you's the bye that built yer boat, and you's they bye that sails her. You's the bye that catches the fish, and brings them home to martha, right?
It'll be the 70gr Hornady GMX and 80gr CEB LR Raptor going as fast as they can from the 27" 1-8 Gaillard, looking forward to grouping it too and see how it likes the loads.
Wrong.... it's Lyza...... but I laughed anyways![]()
I appreciate the uniqueness, not sure of the action cost, but wouldnt a pierce titanium be around the same weight, giving you ability to have a larger range of choices all around, stock, bullet, chambering, would also allow shorter barrel length to reach a desired velocity, to maintain compactness. I don't imagine this is is a budget based build, if for the pure enjoyment, great, enjoy. I have a 5lb scoped titanium and would love to shed a pound off that, fixed 2.5 ultralight on the next one. Fully understand the need to shed weight humping up and down mountains. Maybe you've mentioned, but since I just read 19 pages, I probably forgot the first 12-13. Was a titanium considered, and could it be possible to get to 3.5lbs with no scope that way. I realize your committed now, just fascinated with light rifles and the path we choose to get there. Interesting read for sure.

Oh yes... and this little project is 100% Canadian, a fully scratch made Canadian action and a Gaillard barrel. That's a sweet little deal to me.![]()
Ardent,
I have a request - some time (if you don't mind) post a short video of the action being opened - with sound on.
I don't get excited over many rifles, but a Hagn falling block is one that gets my heart pumping.
