Who is buying a Type81?

Well at least they brought in some "Scorpion" carbines in the mean time...."But buy RIGHT NOW!!! THEY ARE GOING FAST!!!"
Seems to be their new sales pitch....

not surprised. Gonna think the ones that were ready to go were for MIL contract hence CA. Where TI's are purpose built SA. Much like the OG CZ858 and CSA 58. Different receiver altogether

Actually there are 4 seperate parts that when assembled make up the T81 receiver according to the rcmp. Trunnions and the receiver flat.

If any one of them come from a full auto, the whole assembly is considered converted auto.

This might be news.

We have been told production will be completed July 25th. We will be visiting the factory to inspect the shipment; we were told we'd be receiving the travel plan next week. Already have our Chinese visa and invitation letter.

Nope. Proprietary

OK, I'm not joking here... I've read conflicting things about the "Canadian" Type 81: some source say it will take AK47 mags but won't have the bolt hold open feature and then there's those (like you) who say it won't. So, which is it?

For a gun that "wants to be an AK, only not", it wouldn't make much sense for the Chinese to produce proprietary mags for it (from a logistical perspective). The world is literally flooded with dirt cheap AK mags you can get for pennies (if you're a big country like China), so why start production on new ones from scratch? Not to mention other countries that already have AKs and might consider "upgrading" to Type81 but keeping the mags they already have on hand.

Even the Germans kept the Kar43 magazine for all of their "last ditch" VG series of rifles that required a mag, because these mags were already made and were easier to source than making new ones. The interchangeability of parts on weapons and equipment is important for any military and a very desirable feature of new designs.

Anyway, it's weird and very un-communist-like to make proprietary mags for a general issue rifle that's a close clone of something your military already uses (AK)... one could call it a very "wasteful" decision indeed. The Chairman must've not been pleased with that one...
