** Your NEA102 build **

I'm just waiting for pics. Reading the other nea102 threads it looks like first ones should be shipping any day.

Im on the second pre-order, OD green. Mine will stay stock for a while. Still looking for glass, something mid level magnification and price. Not looking to stretch it much past 250yrd.

I just picked up a vortex pst 2.5-10x44 gen I that was discounted from Tenda. I drooled over the same model years ago but at $200 more expensive I never got one.

For now, I'm going to swap out my hilux cmr 1-4x24 on my xcr for the vortex. But into the new year.... hopefully destined for a 102!

This thread seems to have died.

I need mags since the ones I bought aren't going to work. Thinking a swivel stud adapter for a bipod, and I want the blast shield that goes with the muzzle brake the rifle comes with. Going to stay with the OEM stock and handguard for now.

Hoo-rah, Just got the shipping notification for mine.

Planning to throw my bipod, a few different optics, and Magpul BUIS on it, and take some pics of the different setups.

If it shows up before this weekend, I'll be taking it out to the range. Might actually even consider going back to NFG if I can't convince my buddy to get me into Chemainus...

What mags did you buy that aren't going to work?

Looking forward to seeing someone post pics of various setups. :)

Apparently dpms 308 mags don't work in this rifle because they do not fit in the magwell.

Strange, maybe add that in on your faq page. I think I'll mainly be going with pmag 5/20s with ranger bottoms if they work and a couple of xcr-m mags when they show up again. You had one coming out of this first batch correct?

Yup, it's a first batcher. Should have her in a week and a half (hopefully less :) )

Be sure to document any experiences with other hunters as you walk by with your setup, and they have their wood grain bolt actions ;)

  • Black BCL 102 Sept/Oct Batch
  • Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8
  • AXTS AMBI Raptor Charging Handle 7.62 Nickel Boron
  • Magpul CTR Carbine Stock Mil-Spec -ODG
  • Magpul MOE Pistol Grip – ODG
  • Magpul M-LOK MVG Vertical Grip – ODG
  • Ranger Green One Point QD Sling
  • 8-11 Inch Bipod

Undecided on if I will change out the forend at this time, I will probably keep it as is until it gets beat up some. As for the muzzle brake I will try to order a blast shield and leave it stock if one can be ordered separately from the muzzle/shield combo, if not I will put something else on with either a boron finish to match the charging handle or cerakoted to match the ODG accents. Picture below should be roughly what it ends up looking like and give an idea of the look I'm going for.

If I was to replace the forend I'd love to do something like this if compatible.

I would also like to switch to a clamshell forend at some point. Lightweight and functional. I don't need or want a bunch of doo dads on mine.

The only thing I'd question is the single point sling. If you have lots of experience with them and like them go ahead but to me a single point is good for CQB and not much else, especially on a rifle this long and heavy. These are not AR-15's, and I'm not sure why so many want to set them up the same as their AR they have for 3-gun.
I'm still pretty disappointed these are not in owners hands yet, I guess they're only a month later than promised so it could have been worse.
I want some reports from owners. Even though I already have a couple 308 class non restricted semi's I may have to get another if these come close to what they should be.

Definitely waiting on a solid range report!!

I only want to hear that it's reliable. Accuracy reports on this site don't mean much to me unless they come from a few select members. I've come to realize that a large percentage of our members don't know how to shoot a semi auto accurately. I'm tired of reading that rifle x can't shoot better than 4 moa then you push for more information and it's his first semi auto and the he's using a cheap red dot and surplus ammo but blaming the rifle for the crappy groups.
I have a feeling the accuracy reports that will be posted as these get into peoples hands will be all over the place, most will find it to be around 2-3 moa consistently and a few who know how to shoot will experiment with ammo and find results around 1 moa consistently. I say consistently because a single fluke group does not make the rifle or the shooter a 1 moa shooter, you need to do it regularly for it to really count.
The good thing is that I think the rifle will be capable of better accuracy than most shooters so as long as it's reliable it should be a success.

Or the opposite where someone claiming that a rifle shoots under 1moa but discards all flyers in a 3 round group.

Yeah I think you're right about that. I'm going to rethink that as I've never even used a single point sling and just thought this would be a chance to try one out. I'd never even use the sling unless this thing makes it out into the field for some hunting so I'll browse for something more appropriate for that need. Thanks for pointing that out to me.

A nice wide 2 point with a quick adjust slider will work well with almost any rifle, cinch it up for slinging tight across your back while traveling and loose for front carry with quick transition to shooting position.
