Let's see some pics of your Pimped out Troy PAR

Do you happen to know which brand LAR15 mag it is? I have a CPD LAR15 but my Troy PAR won't hold action open after last round. I am not sure if it is just this mag or it is the brand or something. I currently only have one so I can't compare until I order a few new ones.

Mine is the .308 version with an XCR-M Pistol magazine. Someone with a .223 can probably let you know what works in theirs in terms of LAR mags.

Has anyone found any sling swivels that will fit the quick detach holes on these things?

Look up the Noveske TRX QD sling mount, it's low profile and designed for the Troy Alpha rail holes. However, I couldn't find anywhere that would ship to Canada, so if you can let me know because I want one.

Thank you! I was looking all over for those a while back. Ordered one.

No problem. Glad to help out. I've found in this country that if you want something all you have to do is dig. Don't give up and you will eventually find one. But sometimes you have to dig pretty darn deep.

Here is mine in .338 Federal, It has Timney AR10 trigger and works with pump release, hogue grip, FAB defence GL shock butt stock and precision armament M41 Severe muzzle brake.

What are you guys using for the back QD sling mount. I had a magpul and it it pulled from gun Q without the button pressed

I bought a $15 two point sling from Ali Express that had the qd fittings. It's a bit loose in the rear hole, but I've yanked on it pretty good to test it, and carried it a fair bit and it's never fallen out. The link to the one I bought is dead.

I use a Magpul MS4. It fits the Noveske TRX I installed in the front haundguard perfectly. It does fit fairly loose in the rear qd holes in the rifle. I was concerned at first but no matter what I tried to get it to pop out I couldn't. I've used it a few times and no issue.

Mine was loose as well and it seems that looseness at least on mine allows it to break free eventually. I wonder if there is a dedicated Troy one that would be a tighter fit.

Seeing there is a good sale right now on 300 Blackout PARs at Rampart, I decided to take a crack at building a ~27" SBR-style PAR. I ordered the following:

Troy PAR 300 Blackout optics-ready donor rifle
NEA 10.5" heavy barrel 5.56 1/7 via True North Arms
Fortis muzzle brake and blast shield
LWRC ultra-compact stock kit
10" budget m-lock handguard
Mapul vertical foregrip

I'll be machining a sleeve to cover the gas port and a new pump collar. I plan on using the barrel itself and the bottom m-lock slot as the guiding surfaces of the pump collar. Interface with the pump collar will be through the bottom of the handguard only via the vertical foregrip. Cost of components so far is not too bad.

Can't wait to see how it turns out. I've wanted to do this since they came out but I bought a .308 and that would be kind of silly with an even shorter barrel lol. I would want to fab up a shell deflector and dust cover holder to glue/tack on somehow (unnecessary I know and a lot of extra work but I think it would complete the "look"). I almost went for it with that price of the 300BO but pre-ordered a Type 81 instead.

I'm thinking of something similar with a 12" barrel and a KX5 I have in the parts bin. A sleeve vice welding the gas port would be nice. Kelaa - you willing to make an extra .750 sleeve??

Please do... I've been dying to do this. Must see pictures.

So far I've been having trouble removing the barrel. Does the barrel nut have red Loctite?

I've got the commercial parts in hand except the muzzle devices and the stock it. I can probably show a picture of the commercial parts put together over the weekend. But the self-fabricated parts will take me at least a few months to work out.

I'm yet to disassemble a PAR. So take this with salt... I would guess the barrel nut is loctited in place. I couldn't tell you if it's red, blue, purple or their own concoction. Have you tried heat?

Mine was VERY tight. I mean ridiculously tight. So tight I thought I was going to break things. Even after using a heat gun for a very long time and getting it as warm as I could without risking damaging the finish on the gun I had to hit my barrel nut wrench with a good sized hammer a couple of times to crack it loose. I was sure I was going to wreck things. I thought it was Red Loctited as well but found no sign of any once I got it off.

Good luck
