Maccabee Defense SLR information and updates

Mine will be getting run for 3 gun, my current Ar I use for 3 gun has a 18.6 barrel so shes good to go for a direct parts swap. Cant wait to use it for coyote hunting as well and 3 gun training in the back yard!

I don't have a back yard... but I am sure my buildings common use space would make a good course

I have 3,000 rounds through my Colt Canada IUR SFW 10.5" AR. 10.5" barrels are really hard on guns. I lube with G96 every couple hundred rounds, rarely clean until it looks really dirty.

From what I understand about our laws It should be okay to put a short .22lr barrel and still be nr as long as overall length is good ? Like a 10.5” inch barrel marked .22lr and a cmmg kit. Or am I missing something ?

I'm in the camp that find it odd people think the take-down screw is such a concern.

I think I'll be jumping on this group buy to convert one of my AR's to non-restricted!

It's something that requires a screw and can be seen to strip or double thread etc. Not something one wants in a firearm that would be used a lot and cleaned just as often.

Exactly, unless someone starts holding 3 gun comps on crown land where a NR would be required, I don't see many using anything but a restricted length AR

Well, imagine if you would the perfect varmint rifle. In the states they just use precision AR rifles. But not here. Put on a bull barrel with a match trigger and have fun in the gopher patches. I have to admit I can only dream of such a gopher safari but I know there are a number on here that do get to do this. From some of the accounts I have heard, they go through a fair amount of ammo during certain parts of the year.

Or even a gravel pit with a CL barrel. Cheapish plinking with 223. I can see a lot of possibilities. I have plinked up North with a Tavor on a buddies 1/4 section and gone through more than a few hundred rounds at one time. Couldn't do that with my AR rifles.

Heli coil if that should happen.

Ya, with a $1000 upper/lower set? I've been critical of cheesy crap like ATRS's Modern series using DPMS lowest bid parts while still being toted as high end. I'm not giving this one a pass at the $1000 price range for something that seems sub par.

I'll wait to see what it actually is on final production before deciding. But I don't like having to do a Mickey mouse jerry rigged system to make something work that should be designed for it's intended use. Again, will have to see what it actually entails. Just voicing some concerns right now from what I'm reading.

Can't go several hundred without cleaning? I've got several AR15s of different brands in 5.56 and x39 and it's not uncommon for them to go well over 1000 rounds without requiring cleaning. (I only use non corrosive)

Usually they get cleaned prior to any malfunction so it would take LOTS of rounds to stop them working

Cleaned after every shooting. Regardless if it's 50 rounds or 1000's of rounds. Yes they can go for a lot. I've shot one all day before for 5 days straight. But it still gets cleaned at the end of the day. Should add that was with a C8 IUR and 77 grain IVI ammo. No failures. Lots of rounds. Grease was used/provided for the lube which was a real mess at the end of the day.
