Type 81 Owners Corner !

Yeah my Saturday’s involve a lot less shooting and a lot more exercise. Lol I have 2 guns right now I still haven’t shot and the only hunting I’ve done is one morning of goose hunting.

So to keep this post on topic. One day I would like to get a type 81

I can't blame it on my kids but I've done no hunting other than the morning goose hunting with you and I went out one other time after that (skunked twice :()

You can come shoot my T81 whenever you want.

Just got my fixed and folder this afternoon!

Folder is bent like the other guys!!! bent to the right as you shoulder it. Looks to be poor quality control! Check your rifles!!!!! Fixed might be ever so slightly too, but hard to tell the way I was checking. Should be ok I think.

Wasn't the packaging. The boxes were well packed and the boxes were in perfect condition with everything zip tied down nicely.

Disappointed, but at least one seems to be ok.

So in that case, there is definitely a solution, just make a new selector with the paddle in a different position. Or alter the OEM one.

This is my safety, lol

A new safety with a 90deg sweep would be much better, lucky for me I don't use the safety. When it's empty it's safe.

I'm glad to see this issue being brought up. I've been interested in prototyping new safety selectors for ease of use, but I haven't got my hands on a rifle yet. If someone has a good set of calipers, and basic knowledge of schematics, I'd be interested in speaking with them about getting some measurements. This would require the safety selector to be removed from the rifle. The other option would be someone locally here in Grande Prairie, AB willing to let me borrow the rifle for a night to record any necessary information. Obviously it would be preferable to be hands on with the rifle to understand its safe tolerances better.

I had designed a new selector in the past for the VZ58 to reduce the swing from 90° to 11°, unfortunately it required additional parts that I was unable to produce more than a small run of. Hopefully if the T81 is more forgiving, I can open up a larger scale for the public.

I will try to keep an eye on this thread, but if interested, you can reach me faster through PM or at coneskidcone@gmail.com.

the safety sounds like it is exactly the same as a T97. anyone have both rifles they can compare?

HONESTLY, hahahahahhahahahhaha

Gotta have some fun, at least one of these threads has headed back towards actually talking about the rifle.

I would be interested in a replacement safety lever, I'd like it if it also had a stronger detent for more positive latch in either position.

TI CLOSED ANOTHER THREAD IN REGARDS TO BENT T81'S

appears they will try and screw you over on a 20% restocking fee,, and if you happen to play with it to see if its bent etc consider it used and its 40% fee..

now that is about as crooked as the rifles!

Really? That's great! I do have a T97 kicking around. There are still a few measurements I'll need from the T81, but I can start getting some basics done in CAD. Does anyone know if uses a similar detent spring?

Well, it sure looks the same as T97 but not sure if it's 100% the same. I don't have a T97 but my assistant who has stolen my 81 does and he says they look the same. But we haven't taken out calipers or micrometers to measure dimension.

I don't agree with the 20% if you are returning a new and unused faulty product for exchange but if you've been shooting it what do you expect. It obviously wasn't that bad when you got it if you didn't notice it. Do car dealerships let you buy a new truck and drive it around for a month or two then return it for a full refund because you claim it had a bent frame since you left the lot?

These are made in China no warranty rifles, the process goes
1- open the box
2- close inspection including detail strip/clean/lube
3a- if problems found, contact retailer/importer with polite email stating problems found and asking for options.
3b- if no problems found and it functions it's yours.

After that you are responsible for repairs unless they choose to help you out but they are not obligated to repair your rifle once you've been using it.
Just like an M305, a T97, a Nork 1911 or M4gery, or any other China import rifle there is no warranty and typically no parts support unless it's a clone of a real firearm in which case you're buying NA made parts that typically need fitting in order to work/fit correctly.

The T97 safety is similar to the T81 safety in that it uses a flat spring as a detent but beyond that they are different in dimensions.

Safe and fire are 180 and detent springs are on oposite sides, hope this helps :)

Lol well if they try that #### they're gonna figure out how fast a credible t card company will claw back funds.

I just sent TI an email saying o check my rifle before hand, if or when it ships as I won't be paying a 20% restocking fee. If they want to ship a damaged products that's on them and I simply won't eat costs for their poor QC.

Advised if they won't check and confirm before shipping, go ahead and cancel it. Not rolling the dice on this company to potentially be out $200 if a lemon shows up.
