VZ58: Optics, sights & mounts. update sept

it's incredible that no one makes a ghost ring replacement for the rear leaf sight anymore

I'm considering just drawing it in autocad and having someone fab it up for me for an exorbitant sum of money

Did you have any issue with sliding the VZ304 onto the side mount? I just purchased the 304 and it will NOT go on.. Yes I released all the tension off the locking piece... the rails do not mesh with each other.

VZ304 is out of spec. A bit of mallet action and it slides on. Stops being quick detach though.

But it gives you the lowest height over bore possible as PA x4 mounts directly to ACOG rail.

I've reviewed all 37 pages on this thread before asking.....

I just traded for a cz 858 with nea upper and lower handguards. My intent is to mount a red dot on that upper rail. My question is does the upper rail need to be removed for cleaning and if so does the handguard go back on in such a manner that the red dot will still be zeroed?

Please be kind I'm completely new to cz rifles and am trying to learn

Thank u

Anyone know if a POSP will fit on the usual VZ side mount?

Depends entirely on the posps style of mount, whether it's an AK mount, SVD, or universal. It also depends on the style of VZ mount, the one pictured above will not fit any SVD POSPs, and I doubt (not entirely sure tho) it would fit an AK POSP as well. It would however fit a universal mount tho.

Thanks.. might stick with the rs regulate side rail and scope I have on it now then. I'll surely order the wrong posp.

I do like the look of a vz w/ posp though.

Hi - I saw at the beginning a mention of the Receiver mounts and a few negative notes. I've had one on a 1950 Tula 'light refurb' for about 4 years - only 4-500 rounds but it holds Zero very well. It is very fussy about fitting the 'ears' of the cover into the receiver, had to file a bit to make it fit closely. It is a Barska mount and 3+-9 x 40 Scope combo from Cabelas, now about $160 + tax for the mount alone (if they still have any) See thru for iron use.
NOTE - I sold that scope combo and now just run the irons. I painted the irons with White-out, then Yellow Hi-liter - quick and easy to see. And also the Post is now white. Also replaced the sear/mag spring from Mcarbo (specify 'medium' tension as the light weight one lets the mag drop unexpectedly} :-( - I polished the sear and rails, too, ca 4#-pull )

I mounted a Nikon P223 offset using the standard low profile scope mount and 2 1" flashlight mounts and some loctite. It worked really well actually, allowed me to have a longer scope that never got hit by ejected brass

Do you happen to have photos of this setup? I've been reading through this thread and your idea seems the most practical for running anything longer than a 3x scope
