Thanks. and yes i was just trying to get a feel of who uses semi autos for hunting. I apologize for irritating a number of members with my redundant posts. I did not mean to do that. I was just trying to make people aware. So if i annoyed you i apologize. Yes i am scared out of my mind. Over the last 4 months I sold off a number of older collectable firearms in order to take the plunge into the modern sporting rifle. I bought three AR15 of different configurations and a Famae SG542 which cost me a LOT of money. I also upgraded my hunting rifle to a Benelli R1 and my shotgun to a Benelli SBE 2. I also own an M1 Garand and M1 carbine. If this #### goes though i will essentially be cleaned out. And it really bothers me. So for those of you who are pissed off at me right now I apologize.

Take a deep breath and relax a little. There are certain semi autos that might be on a hit list but I seriously doubt the Libs would go through with a ban on all semi autos. There are just too many in this country,
Part of how Parties test ideas is to float them through their ridings and gauge reaction. There have been murmurs and rumours for years, if you’ve owned firearms for a long time, you’re used to this.

I have a tricked out SKS which proved to be a crackerjack deer rifle with my handloads. I have a Winchester Mod.100 in .308 for which I've developed an acceptable deer load. For longer range precision shooting I have a Ruger M77 varmint and a Mossberg Patriot, all in .308, and both capable of MOA bullet placement with my handloads. I'd hunted most of my life with bolt rifles since I've never been a fan of pump or lever action rifles, but several years back, my buddy pushed out a big buck and 2 does and while I didn't have a clean shot at them, I realized that no matter how fast I am with a bolt rifle, a semi would have given me faster second shot capability.
It was predicted many years ago that the government of the day would eventually get around to restricting and prohibiting semi-auto firearms.
It was also said that many gun owners would stand behind the government, as to who needs one of those anyway? What useful purpose do they serve? I hope you are not one of those? I am afraid that day is upon us. How ironic. What's next? Lever action and pump action firearms. How many violent crimes in Canada have been committed with a registered AR-15? I am guessing the answer is very tiny or non-existent. But the government must be seen to do something and they will be. It just wont be effective because they aren't dealing with the real issue. As for the police making the policy decisions on firearms restrictions? That's just passing the buck and with all due respect I don't remember electing the police.

I have used a M14 and taken lots of big game with it. Used a semi shotgun. My very first gun when I was 15 was a semi 22, it was the bunny slayer. Have taken tons of beavers, woodchuks with a SKS and Tavor. The again I use all my guns for hunting from bolts, to levers, antique muskets and rolling blocks they are all awesome.

For all intents and purposes semi shotguns are obsolete. Semi auto hunting rifles will only become more popular through time as the AR platforms become more accepted by new generation hunters. USA of course...have to see what that fool with the nice hair in Ottawa has planned for us Canadian hunters and shooter though. Australia has been grinding up everything semi auto in the name of gun crime reduction. I fear canada is near this mindset as well.

Fear the RCMP. are they not making the firearms legislation and enforcing too. Gun registry along with sponsorship scandal brought the Liberals down to the point where they didn't even form an official party. Should have thrown all those Quebec liberals in jail as with the Prime Minister because nobody will convince me that the PM's office didn't know of the corruption and outright stealing of taxpayers money. Now the RCMP will take the hit should things become unpopular again.
