support for eddie Maurice's self defense case Please read...

Not long ago there was a bloke in the US who was tired of beer being pilfered from his garage beer fridge so he lay in wait and shot someone trying steal a beer.

Consider also that not everyone has the same value for the well-being of a thief as you seem to have.

I might not have much but I've worked very hard for the things that I do have. Everything that I've got I've earned ten times over. And that is not the same case for everybody.

I look at our Prime Minister Turdeau who was a spoiled little rich kid born with a silver spoon shoved up his azz. He's a multi-millionaire who's never had a real job or had to do an honest day's work in his life. It's actually unreasonable for us to even expect someone like that to recognize the property rights of someone else....

You're such a victim, maybe you should start your own fundraizer.

You're such a victim, maybe you should start your own fundraizer.

I just repaired the property damage myself at my own expense. I've found that that is actually more cost effective than carrying insurance for that sort of loss.

I see this crowd fund raising thing as sort of 'self insurance' for home owners who are re-victimized by a criminal government just for defending their own property. A competent defense lawyer under similar circumstances is something that I most definitely could NOT afford.

The laws are not going to change and we're on our own. We really need to look after each other here. Each other is all that we have. It's just disheartening that there are still so many people who have yet to clue into this rather self evident fact.

If we can help Eddie Maurice beat these charges, that might send the message to the criminals that the police and the government refuse to send. I see this as now being our only option. As home and property owners, our resolve and determination to look after each other could be our only real and effective crime deterrent...

Since post #350 this morning I see that the Maurice FundRazr has just gone up one contributor and fifty bucks. That just bought Eddie 90 more seconds of legal representation. We're on a roll again! Let's keep it goin' guys... :)

Get the insurance that is offered on this site, I,just did

went to the local td bank last week on Friday and the account number is not registered to the people in need, but one individual

In order for me to feel comfortable the money is going to the right folks I need a better indication of who is on the account. first name or address or something so they can confirm whom it is going to

Reason the bank staff can put it in the wrong account and I would be none the wiser

and auto.ite the vineyard barbarism is a piece of work not to worry about him

@Kyle Sinclair-Smith

Could you address this gentleman's concern???

I think many would agree had these thieves come there armed, and intended to harm this person then more severe actions could have been warranted. The accused could have turned on the lights, yelled out to them that he knew they were there and he had called the police, HAD he felt threatened yelling out to them that he was armed. But none of that was stated. While the laws are not perfect, they are all we have. Not long ago there was a bloke in the US who was tired of beer being pilfered from his garage beer fridge so he lay in wait and shot someone trying steal a beer. IIRC it was an exchange student who was shot and killed. Had the accused shot and killed this person it would have been over some pocket change. THAT would have gotten media attention and he would have been charged with manslaughter. While every situation is different this one seems, from what has been reported, pretty clear cut. The accused shot an unarmed thief rummaging through his car. The accused was not in fear for his life nor for the lives of his family. I do feel empathy for this poor sod, but he broke the law. I can see a fine probation and banning him from owning a firearm his punishment.

I disagree. In hindsight from behind our locked doors and keyboards we....or the crown can say that. At the moment, he was one guy, confronting two thieves very likely armed, and he is the only one between them and his wife and infant.

A firearm is the best force equalizer. It makes a 100 lb woman equal a 250lb man 30 years her junior. Someone comes and threatens me, my FAMILY, my kid.....how is it they get to expect fair.

Fack that.

The Stanley case is most interesting. The criminals who invaded the Stanley farm were in fact armed with a loaded rifle. Pics posted by the RCMP showed that this was indeed the case. But this fact was deliberately under-reported, almost totally and completely ignored by the Leftist MSM. Why???

The point of this thread is to raise funds for Mr. Maurice's defense which many here are strongly in favor of. If you feel differently, perhaps go post on a different platform instead of dissuading people from contributing on this one.

Exactly, the trolls should go back under their bridge and stay out of this forum, It was not intended to discuss the "speculative" facts provided by the fake media, and draw conclusions about things that nobody was around to see for themselves in order to make an accurate judgement.....this kangaroo court of public opinion is not what he needs right now....he needs our support!!

The "real" facts are in the courts and not in somebody's opinions, we will wait till the trial to let them come to light......for now we must come together and support him as if he were one of our own...and get him that day in court...

Try to imagine being in his shoes right now....facing the possibility of prison...leaving his wife and kids alone and unprotected on the farm.....and maybe even possibly losing that farm, if he isn't around to work and pay bills...

I do realize its very hard for some people to pull themselves out of their own world and have a shred of decency and human empathy to imagine feeling what it would be like to be in somebody else's dire situation....glad myself ..and the vast majority of others here aren't so selfish...

let's keep the word out...and help Eddie

I've donated but not from any great sense of altruism. I've been hit twice myself within just one year and I can most certainly see myself in the same position as Mr. Maurice. All of us need to band together and send a message to both the criminals and to the dysfunctional and corrupt government that pro-actively supports crime.

We're just not going to continue to take this %$#@ indefinitely...

'Like sitting ducks': Rural property owners looking for use-of-force solutions. Rural crime jumps 41%.

http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/rural-crime-property-owner-frustation-1.4570602

The article mentions things homeowners can do to deter criminals like installing gates and security cameras. What they don't mention is that the thieves have no problem tearing out a steel gate and smashing the security cameras beforehand...

Hey Jefferson,

The TD account was setup by a family friend named Travis Dunn who is a close family friend of the Maurice family.

"A trust account at TD Bank has been set up by Travis Dunn (family friend) which will gather and hold funds on behalf of Maurice.

Donations can be made to any branch of TD to account number 8079-6142303 and e transfers can be sent to helpeddiemaurice@gmail.com"

That is a quote off of http://corymorgan.com/

I both know Travis and the Maurice family; if I'm not mistaken, Travis setup the TD account in a way that only Eddie himself can with draw funds.

I also wanted to stop by and let everyone know that I'm posting an update directly from the Maurice family on the FundFazr site here shortly. You guys/gals have been such a huge support system for them I wanted to make sure you were all aware of the update.

I read your update. Thanks for that. It is a 'must-read' for everyone on this thread.

To those who are waiting for the laws to change, or think that the cops/government are going to get a handle on rural crime, you're deluding yourselves. Reference the recent break-in at my place, the cops just didn't give a #@%*. They didn't believe that it was an actual break-in even when I showed them pics of the property damage.

When I had my car stolen, I got it back only because I had posted pics of the car and a description of the thief all over social media. I even had a friend of a friend (someone I didn't even know) who saw the thief and my car and called it in. It was another phone call from an anonymous citizen who found the car hidden away and contacted me personally. All the RCMP did was the paperwork.

The point that I'm trying to make here is that we really are all on our own. Each other is all we've got to combat this rural crime thing. This is why we need everyone to get on board to help the Maurice family. We also need to send a message to the government that we are united on this. This is how we're going to protect each other from now on. Hopefully the criminals will get the same message.

The bottom line is that we can't rely on the police nor the government to fix this problem for us. Our laws actually facilitate the criminal. It's just a shame that there are still so many of you who will have to be first victimized yourself before you will figure this out... :(
