Norinco NP29 M-1911A1 9mm Pistol

I got the gun out to the range today and I am happy with it, triggers not bad, mostly hit the targets.
Sights are decent, not on issue feeding it and I did a couple of clips with me pulling the trigger as fast as I could.

All in all it seems like it's going to be a good gun for plinking with, I'm happy I picked this one up.

Hey guys, got a little problem and think you are the right ones to answer my questions.

My father just received his brand new np29. We cycled a fair amount of snap caps thru it and got A LOT of jams. Seems like it's got a hard time ejecting. We really have to slam it and even then it jams most of the time.

First thing I noticed is the extractor is the same shape as a .45 extractor with bumps on both sides rather than just one as it seem to be the norm for 9mm 1911. Is this common on np29 or did I end up with a mismatched part?

Also, the extractor hook is not 90* or concave, it's convexe, which, in my limited knowledge, isn't right.

Will try and get pics soon.

Have you tried it with live ammunition?

Not yet, sadly... But all other pistols we cycle those snapcaps in do it no problem. So that added to the weird hook shape got me worried but I'll check back once live fire has been done.

I had one 6-7 years ago. I thought it was great. No real sharp edges and I put 100 rounds into a 5" circle at 15 yards off a rest. It was a fun gun to shoot, and , really, who doesn't like shooting that platform? A pussycat in 9mm.

CCI Blazer 124 GR runs flawlessly through mine. The Winchester Forged is garbage, I get one FTE or FTF every single mag. I have another 100 rounds or so. I read somewhere that the case diameters were slightly off. I should get my micrometer out and start comparing.

So in case anyone was curious, my digital caliper's battery was dead and so I pulled the barrel and did a bush league "plunk" test. I took each cartridge and plunked it into my barrel, and then turned the barrel over. If it fell cleanly out, I put it to one side, if it stuck, it went to the other. Of course, now I'm blanking on how many "rejects" I had, but it was disconcerting. Something close 1/3 of them.

I'm over 2000 rounds through my Nork .45 1911; and have tightend my groups up just by practicing. Home load 200gr. LSWCs all go in 5" at 10 yards, no bench rest, and over half go in 5" at 20 yards. I am really happy with the gun. Rarely any misfeeds, band I have yet to polish the feed ramp. Better gun than I ever imagined! Keeper! I am almost as god with the NZ85 and the NP58; and I am seriously considering getting both a 9mm version and the Commander version with the shorter barrel in .45. Best value in hand guns presently.

Sorry Meroh, should have given you the heads up. SFRC had a 17% off sale this past weekend. People who took advantage of the sale got their Np29s with taxes in shipped to their door for $318... Dang that's cheap!!! Lets hope there is another sale soon because there is still a few 1911 and Sig copy's left from their last batch.

I saw the sale; unfortunately, after having to replace both our vehicles after the ice storm a couple of months back, I'm in "conservation mode". There were a couple of rifles I looked at there, and if they had been a real screaming deal I would have got one or the other; however, my local Canadian Tire store has the same one on the shelf, regular price, for a bit less than they did on sale, shipped. I'll wait.

I now primarily use a Norc 45 commander and love it. It runs like a top and out of five 1911's I have owned over the years, it is the most accurate. Who'd a thunk it? It really loves the Campro plated 230gr with power pistol powder. Sweet fireball with each shot as a bonus. Chryst.......life is good!!!

I have the M-1911A1 Sport two tone in 45 and love it! Never had a jam, very accurate, BUT is finicky with snap caps. Sometimes it will cycle them and sometimes not -I think they are just too light.
I was hesitant about the Norcs because I've heard so much negativity regarding them, but since owning one I am sold on them. Not all of us have/or want to spend $1500 plus on a "high end" 1911. Why would you when there are Norincos! LOL

I'm using one of Canada Ammo's unmarked 1911's from a few years ago for IPSC that I worked over a bit. Just ordered an NP29 from SFRC to build a minor gun out of. Between the June sale price and the long weekend additional 15% off it came to $312 shipped, can't beat that. I checked out a Tanfoglio 1911 not long ago, I wasn't real impressed with it compared to my current Norinco's, and that was before I found out how much it cost. I thought it was going to be about a $700-$800 gun, not over $1000.

Had mine out to the range again yesterday and I'm still happy with it, I only have maybe 300 rounds through it but so far nothing for problems, few different types
of ammo, shoots great, easy to clean, I am happy with my purchase. For the $1,000.00 difference between this and the Colt 1911 I was looking at I can buy all kinds of ammo.

Started just a bit on the outside but happy when tightened up,
about 15 yards sitting with left elbow resting on the table.

It's been my only pistol now for almost a year.
I go to the range almost every week as it's about 10 minutes away.
I have been shooting it hard and fast and a lot. It's accurate, dead reliable, made of some hard steel and it costs almost nothing.
One of the best bang for buck range toys I've ever bought and I highly recommend the Norc 1911 in 9mm.
The machining on mine is actually quite good and the slide to frame fit is tight and very well done.
I used to have the .45 version and I prefered it to be honest but I can't afford $0.60 a round for a pistol cartridge and I don't reload.

I reload 9, .40 & .45; otherwise I would not be shooting much of anything except .22 LOL.
