Your certain of this? According to cerecoat manuals, before coating anodized parts, most of the anodizing has to be blasted off. I had a certified cerecoat shop tell me the same.

It just has to be blasted till it looks dull, to create a rough surface for the cerakote to adhere to.

Well... it’s my true belief that the stag will be a better gun. Unfortunately due to the unwritten rules of CGN and the fact that I own a bcl I have to defend the 102 to the death.
They make something similar but instead of a chain it's rubber. Canadian tire carries them. Strap wrench? Sorry I forgot what it is called but if you look in the wrench isle you'll find them

I understand that, but anodizing is removed and I was wondering if anyone knew for sure if ar manufacturers anodize uppers and lowers when they know they are going to cerecoat them...just curious.

Do you think the amplitude of that roughing might be 1 or two thou? I'd hazard a guess that it would be.
And in the end, I'll be f'd if I really knew which was better. I have cerakote, approximately 2200 rounds down the pipe, and no concerns at this point in time. But that is just my own scenario.
On Cerakote's website it says it needs .001-002" max. Any deeper and it won't leave a good finish.

And previously stated somewhere, that is the effective depth of anodizing. Whether or not that is true, well, i don't know.

I will sum it up for you;
You won't remove all the anodizing when you blast it for cerakote.
Yes AR manufactures anodize before cerakote because of the hardening.
Daniel Defense? Type III anodize and Cerakote
Noveske? Type III anodize and Cerakote
Ghost firearms? Type III anodize and Cerakote
LWRC? Type III anodize and Cerakote
BCM? Type III anodize and Cerakote
There seems to be a pattern.....

F@cking cgn... BCL did not anodize for a reason. As any true operator knows anodizing adds weight to the metal. A light weight gun helps an operator effectively move though difficult terrain. Also their manual is multi lingual.

Thats why the finest operators forgo the bcl entirely. Knocks off a solid 8ish lbs of weight and they just use whatever they were going to use when it was gonna go down.

Might I suggest youtube? There is a fair number of these reviews on there already. The only difference with yours is a longer barrel and gas system with a longer handguard.
