By doing exactly the same thing for five plus decades longer without the current inflated media hype. You know, Chuck, I really don't mind if you prefer the PRC and I don't mind if you think it is a better cartridge... I didn't bring it up... I am here to talk about the 6.5 Rem Mag that is one of the current projects... there has gotta be a PRC thread that you can play in... if so, I promise not to go there and hype the 6.5 RM.

As you are one of the MORE Intelligent people on here and did build a 6.5 RM what lenght barrel did you use and can you tell use what the FPS with diff bullet loads are ? Please - if you will ? or if your brother even reloads his own ammo ?

Since you have a few hundred brass for it you Midas well, I think I have a really nice Kimber , CRF, 3 POS safety Magnum Bolt face here that you would love like a :kickInTheNuts:

I could live with the Bolt SAFETY i guess BUT then I might as well bulid a 6.5 PRC Instead ! and sell the 6.5 RM brass to Bucky or Canon ! I DONNO ! d:h: :bangHead: RJ

Because something had to make the savage axis look good lol. I kid i kid. But not really though lol. I just laugh when i see those 600s with the vent rib and weird bolt. They do shoulder nice

And Remington seems famous for not marketing there cartridges well. After building my rifle I started a lttle collection and have all the MM rem cartridges, None are any popular but the 7 - but they all work just fine.

Mine will follow Nosler data pretty close, I can post some from my data later when home if ya like, been mostly loading 130gr.


You guys end up discussing this and keeping it at the top, lol. Got my brass source exposed and I had to get some more before someone has a bright idea to build one or something... lol - PRC all the way!!!
 
I absolutely love the 6.5 RM. As has been mentioned, it was well ahead of the times.
Unfortunately, the platform lacked in a couple of areas.
I also like the 264 Win Mag. In a 26" barrel, it is not hard to reach 3200, or even a bit
more, with today's powders. Dave.

I loaded ALL i could get into the CASE of H870 with a 140 gr er in my OLD 264 Win Mag for around 3150 fps with a 24 " M700 Remy ! RJ
