Sk trespass law being changed; just a heads up

If you want it to be pay to play on private land based on what it's worth today how about you pay back the costs of the roads around it based on today's construction costs. The cities subsidize your power bills because you actually cost money to provide power to because of the lower population density of the rurals and how much line is needed to get there and the upkeep on it.The carrying cost of the land isn't crazy from what my co-workers that own land tell me. It isn't being devalued by people walking on it. If it's pasture or crop you're making money off of it throughout the year.

Which rural industries do you think don't pay for the lights or the roads? I hope I'm reading your post wrong.

I would guess everybody but oil, they seem to just build their own and have the density to cover it as it's localized.

Construction costs are crazy these days. The cost to survey and build the grid system today would be ridiculous, 100k a mile for a good grid? That's all been done in the past and you are mainly paying for maintenance. If you say the land is worth 100k a quarter then you're talking today prices, consider the roads and utilities that society as a whole as subsidized and put that in today's dollars. It's not just farmers that paid for that. And unless you are paying 50000+ to get power to your land and then 2k+ for every time a pole goes down on your land you are being subsidized by the people living in cities that have a higher population density. I don't live in a big city but I can realize that farmers aren't on an island and they get as much as they give.
500 to 1k a day for land access.... That's the entitled elitists climbing to the top and pulling the ladder up

No, that's the free market at work.

As many farmers would say...."Dont like it go buy your own section." Gotta pay to play.

Americans have already caught wind of this and are ready to get exclusive access to prime land here in Sask. We were hunting at Lucky Lake SK and luxury private plane landed there with a bunch of Americans. They flew up from texas to shoot at some geese for a day. They have deep pockets and will pay whatever to hunt here.

For those of you guys living here in Sask that dont have land and enjoy hunting......enjoy things now cause its things are gonna change real quick.

This gotta pay for play is ridiculous. Im all good with doing it when I travel, but when my taxes and crown corp bills go towards giving everyone in the province high quality services i don't think you should be able to reap the benefits and shake down the people that enable your life style. Rogers having cell service on the highways and cities is how our phone coverage should be according to gotta pay or play. the farmers should be buying their own towers.

Farmers contribute far more to urban Centers than vice versa.

The grid road system was built at a time when 90% of Saskatchewan’s population was rural.

Same goes for the electrical grid.

The power lines that feed the cities cross agricultural land.

Producers have historically paid far more education taxes than urbanites.

All those ag equipment factories, equipment dealerships, ag supply companies and farm shows that generate huge amounts of income and tax revenue in the urban Centers are thanks to farmers.

As for “shaking down the people than enable your lifestyle”? You’re talking out of your ass. The rural agricultural industry contributes 10 fold to the urbanites over what we receive.

I don’t agree with charging fees for access but reading posts like yours are definitely pushing me in that direction.

Not even close to what I'm trying to say.

Do you think farmers don't pay taxes, don't have crown corp bills and have free cell service?

Answer the question

Well ,

As I don't know exact numbers but I do know what they pay taxes on and the rates , I'd say it is fair to say that they pay probably as much or more than what the average Canadian earns in a year.

As for big corporation they don't pay more but that is relative as to the scale of the big corporation and if it wasn't for big cooperation there would be no private money going to support the government, still this is discussion for another thread.

I still don't know how this relates to the topic.

But for those that need it spelled out...............

For the amount of value and cost and revenue generated by a farmer I don't blame them one bit for wanting to protect their investment as much as possible.

Does that suffice almighty one?

Still not sure the point to your question.

You were the one who brought up taxes and insurance....implying that farmers are so hard done by in the tax department. They pay tax and insurance like the rest of us...unless you are native.

LOL this just keeps getting sadder and sadder

Now having to ask permission is pay for access. The mental gymnastics in this thread are hilarious. Want to use it buy it or ask, its not rocket surgery

Yes, it's sad that such a simple concept is difficult to grasp.

But this all reminds me of an irate customer we had once...

His exact words as he was pounding on the counter "I get what I want!!"

And it's not the first time I've seen a grown full size infant.

Entitled.

Asking permission meaning pay for access is mental gymnastics on your part. No where here has anyone equated the two.

Buy it, rent it or ask. Why shouldn't property owners have the option to charge a fee for use?
