M40 Family - Who owns one?

Bored here tonight, looking to get a bumper sticker made for the hell of it (and cause I'm a hillbilly). Need suggestions for some text to go with the image, if anyone has something fire it off! I'm drawing a blank on what I should do.

A few ideas I saw online:

Death From Afar
Send It
If You Heard It You Weren't The Target
When You Care Enough To Send The Very Best
Don't Run, You'll Only Die Tired
Happiness Is A Warm Gun

I'm kinda lukewarm on all of them though. Not looking for "Got M40A1?" either. If any of you nutz have something good I can use I'll send you a mittful of stickers for your troubles when I get them.

"Never argue with someone who can shoot from another postal code"
"Reach out and touch someone"
"Never fired in anger nor dropped in surrender"
"My idea of help from above is a sniper on the roof"
"40 years old, still gets the job done"
"Bad news travels fast, 2600 feet per second"
"1 to 1 Ratio"
"I might be old but you're still within range"
"From a place you cannot see comes a sound you will never hear"
"You have your point of view and I have mine"
"Poetry in slow motion until you squeeze the trigger"

Starting to get a little cabin fever, packed a bag today and taking my oldest daughter to the range tomorrow. Going to teach her everything I know about shooting an M40a1 haha. Should be a quick trip!

Took my daughter to the range yesterday, she likes the replica rifle. She's only ever shot rimfires before, but wanted to try something new.

This was her 110 yd target, 10 shot group.

No standing shots for her, she can barely hold the rifle. She had fun though!

We moved over to the range with a gong at 325 yds, she dialed up the optic and got 7/10 hits. Her first 5 were good, then she got cocky and missed 3. Settled down and redeemed herself with the last couple. I'll see if I can get her video up.

Just thought I'd share.

Well, one up side to this whole school/work shutdown is I get to spend some time with her. Most days we don't have much in common, and I can't compete with the guy she's dating. But since he's not allowed to be here these days, she's all mine!

We burned off some rounds with a couple of AR's too, gives me an excuse to get to the range. In all honesty though she did most of the shooting. I ran through one mag with my stubby Colt but the rest was hers.

She liked the .308 most. Going back in the next day or two for her to try out a couple of 1911's, and a G19 I picked up for her to use (if it shows up).

Can't get the gong video to work, shot with her iphone and it won't transfer to my laptop.....

That’s awesome....great day to spend with your daughter!
Quite a shot as well!

Awesome pics!

So I recently started on an M40 "type" build. I have the stock to inlet, I have an SPS in .308 that I will cut and crown at 24", Badger base/rings and an old Redfield 3-9x. I am having trouble locating the checkered backplate and appropriate sling swivels..I know Numrich used to sell the buttplates but they don't seem to any more. If anyone has any leads for those small parts or advice in general it would be much appreciated.

There is a post on the M40rifle website on how to make them out of salvaged 513T sling swivels, or else you can buy a set of Wichita style swivels from Mcmillan but they are pretty rich at $102 USD for the pair. Wichita firearms used to sell them for $29 a pair which is where I got the set on an M40a1 themed rifle I built a few years ago, but Wichita went out of business years ago. For the wood stock you will need the machine thread for the forend and a wood screw type for the buttstock end.

I think guys are buying old school checkered aluminum Rem 700 butt plates from eBay and shaving them to fit if required. I’m not an expert on the older first gen M40 series but I just looked at eBay and saw several with the checkered pattern and Remington logo which looked close. It all depends on how strict or OCD you are with details.

If anyone knows of a USMC/Unertyl mount, I need one for my M40A1 build, have the rifle and a new USO scope

Damn you twincamharley! I imagine your gun vault is like a walk in wine cellar! I’m still waiting for my barreled action to be finished.....

Sometimes those mounts come up on eBay as HogsDen has a page there. I think he did another small batch recently.

There are a few bottles in the rack......you must have a mount lol you could part with or if you hear of one let me know,,,thanks!

That’s a great pair of rifles. I like how Mcmillan does the forest camo pattern on the M40A1 spec stocks, it’s closer to the old 90’s Camo patterns. I picked up a forest Camo M1A stock and it looks less defined. Like I said, OCD.

I do have a mount with Simrad cap but I’m waiting for my barreled action to come back from Black Art to mount it.

I am currently in Dawson Creek along with my M40A1 but the weather hasn't been the greatest. Not to mention, I've never spent any time in Dawson Creek and don't really know where to go.
