Okay, that was nice and cold, and icy on the range floor. I’m back and fed and ready to post
So this Ruger picatinny rail needed 3/32” Allen key driver. I wanted to torque all the 4 rail screws down to 17 in/lbs. I’m using a Brownells Torque wrench with Borka kit / bits. The 1/4” drive ratchet handle was not used.
It’s snowing up at my gun club, but we got many 3 round groups going. I did not choose to set up the LabRadar since it was snowing, the Doppler Radar would get all messed up reading/false reading the falling snowflakes. Why take a chance and risk lousy data? Next nice weather day, we can bust it open again.

I’ve got 3 bunches of ammo. 2 are handloads with 25.0 grains of WC735 (faster than H335 and BLC2). On top of the cases were Hornady 68 grain HPBT and then Remmy 62 grain HP; both are match quality boooolits. The Remmy 62 gr. Match booolits I bought many years ago for about $16 per 100 slugs. I’m just using them up. The Hornady 68 grain HPBT are my go-to booolit for SR back in my Connaught Range/ Mons Range days. That 68 grain boooolit has never let me down.....

That LabRadar is inside the padded blue briefcase.
Here are the results.....

Now to install a spare AR15 flash hider I had kicking around and it’s correct crush washer
I kinda like the CProducts Duramag length of 5/10 for this bench work. I tried my 5/30 PMags, and dropped to my elbows. Nice monopod feel with support hand bracing the bell of the scope. That’s another range report!
I just ordered a couple of the PMags 5/10 from TNA in Mississauga. Always had good results from PMags in my evil and now prohibited AR15 rigs.
For many years since 1985, I’ve been shooting a Service Rifle in one form or another, often I would dig out my groundhog rifle, a Remmy Varmint .223 or Winnie Coyote .223, then I would enter a Service rifle match with said bolt gun (civilian hunting pattern; no detachable magazine) outfitted with a set of Leupold turn in rings (not picatinny rail, with 20 MOA tilt), and run groundhog / coyote ammo (55 grains out of a 12” twist factory barrel). Often I would suffer several points in the rapid fire matches since I could only get about 6 or 7 out of 10 rounds off to the targets.
The M14 , The M1 Garands, and the AR15 rigs ruled the roost for their inherent military designs. Now with the Ruger American Ranch rifle; life is a great deal better. I can keep up, pretty closely with the Monopod’ed C7A2 and AR15 rigs (OIC sensitivity, ON). 5/30 round magazines for monopod style shooting in the prone/deliberate matches, 5/30 magazines for the rapid match reloads, Picatinny rail so I can swap any optics I want for CQB or Service Rifle... And finally 1 MOA capability to remain somewhat competitive at PR matches in Bravo Range, Garrison Petawawa (600m distance maximum).
What’s not to like in this fun gun??
Peace Be To Journey!
Cheers, Barney
