Ruger American Ranch

Looks good!
I have the same but in stainless arm/black knob(lrg size). I ended up removing the O-rings. Found they liked to shift.....

Does the new handle just screw in or does the old one have to be cut off then drilled and tapped?

What kind of ammo is everyone using in these? Especially the guys saying that their's shoots MOA? I'm using Federal XM193 55gr and am getting 2.5-3 MOA with the odd 2 MOA group. I don't reload so what ammo should I try if I want to get some tighter groups?

You have to decide what you want to do. I've used plenty of the same Federal but shooting at gongs, so basically it's plinking ammo. Most hunting or target ammo in the 60-75gr range is going to be more accurate.

Also anyone running 1" low weaver rings on this?
How is the clearance? I hate high sitting scopes. Not sure what to take a chance on here.

I ran weaver 1” lows and it will clear a 40mm objective, also...I then ditched the weavers and the factory rail and put 1” Talley low’s on it and it’s the exact same height after the swap but saved approx. 3 oz doing this!

I have 3 ranch Grendels in mdt chassis running trijicon 3-9x40 accupoint green dot duplex scopes for me and my two boys, we hunt with them, accurate, we keep to moa or less with 3 shot groups to 500 yards with hornady black ammo

I just got a 223 LAR mag RAR, was rather impressed with the 100yrd groups with bulk Winchester 55gr FMJ

I find the trigger to be horribly grainy feeling, feels like there’s grit in the trigger. Anyone else? Anyone taken theirs apart? Tried polishing it?

Nice shooting. 1 MOA is not hard to achieve with this rifle. Read post #37 in this thread: https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/for...ican-Ranch?p=17359194&viewfull=1#post17359194

Or...you can operate the bolt a few hundred times while you're watching Dune 2021 :)

As much as I like the bigger bolt handle and no offence to MDT, but I have to change that bolt handle....

I'd suggest opening the T-assy and cleaning it, then maybe polish everything that 'rubs' anything else. Then I lube with synthetic CT grease. There's lots that can be done to the "Safety Trigger" including just removing that blade. Lots of tips on forums, like the Rugerforum .net 'Bolt-action' section. I have the RA Standard and replaced the S-blade spring with ca 1/3 of a clik-pen spring and removed the T-return spring completely. Trigger is smooth and only ca. 2# or so. Also, the bolt sounded like a 'zipper' so I polished that too; now smooth and silent!

Changed out the bolt handle and you'd think that after watching the videos multiple times it would have been a breeze, but no, it wasn't. Thank god my wife was home to lend me that third hand. Proof once again, that I am NOT handy.
For comparison, I do like the look and functionality of the new bolt as compared to the MDT knob.

NoDanger....I had the "longer" version but removed the o-rings. They start shifting once you start racking enthusiastically.
It's a nice upgrade to the oem knob/handle and looks much nicer than the one you replaced.....
