Deer Season 2020 Thread

I havent seen much. 1, 4 pointer however i didnt get a shot. Hearing coyotes in late evenings. Hope the deer arent chased out of our area like the last few years

Which wmu? Ontario i assume as per your avatar. Im in 58. Ive seen so many wolves here the last 2 years its ridiculous. Might justt switch to hunting them instead.

I'm in 60. Ministry in their infinite wisdom has a ban on shooting them and coyotes at this time. I had 5 at one time 15 minutes from last light start howling west(2)( where the 4 wheeler was), north(1) and east(2) of me and they were probably 100-200 yds from me. Not a good feeling when you have a crossbow with you.

What township are you in? Looks like most of 60 is open...

Last year, I left my pop-up blind in a public land spot for the season, someone stole it.

This year, I hunted the same spot, but didn't leave the pop-up there ... built a massive brush pile, and hid the pop-up behind it.

Until last night. I had favourable winds this morning, so I went in after dark and got everything set up for a first light hunt this morning...

Got there, someone had already stolen my blind by first light!

Got the camera, which he walked right by ... no pic of his face, but he'd only beaten me to the blind by 45 minutes.

Getting pretty bad. Gonna need to start carrying a gun while bow-hunting for self-protection.

I am sorry man. That sucks. I think it might be time to find another spot

id be boobie trapping the hell out of the next blind you put up... "tree must have fallen on the guy , idk what happened officer, its not my blind , i just stumbled across him laying here"

Nice deer, it looks like it has a broken left antler. Was he like that when you found him?

After the shot he ran about 20 yards and stopped for about 15 seconds, thought he was going to go down right there. Then he went and ran full speed into a tree and bust it off.

Yeah. Trouble is ... it's the best place I've ever found, period.

And you land marked it for someone else.
Maybe if he has no success he will move on and you can make it like you were never there, and use it again in the future, leaving it like you were never there.

It will need a different approach in the future for sure. My boss hunted close to there years ago with a hanger, but the spot I'm in is far better and only has scrub. There is literally nowhere to hide, unfortunately, without bringing in a blind or building one.
