Hey Fellas
its my first year white tail hunting and I got the bug, cant stop watching videos and reading literature on it and spending money, long story short the wife ain't happy.
I'm hunting at a local spot in Halton Region and I have called in the same 8 point buck 3 days in a row. I'm pretty much hunting an oak flat across from a farmers field, first night i was in my tree stand and he walks out about 60 yards in front of me and started making scrapes and huffing and puffing he wasn't happy then took off, I was just using a grunt tube and even snort wheezed at him to try to lure him back when he was walking away in the brush (I'm trying to figure out what works

) that was at 5:50 pm but I didn't note the wind. Second night i took to a old ground made up of logs etc... that was about 30 yards closer to where I saw him the night before. He came out late and made the same pass from left to right in front of me at 6:30pm with a ENE wind. I tried a couple grunts he stopped and stared at me kept moving then I tried to bleat from a bleat can and he just turned around and walks away. The third night I set up closer to where he has exited into some think bush the previous nights and sit up against a huge oak , I lit one of those tinks incense sticks and laid it about 15 yards in front of me . At 6:09 with a northern wind he somehow shoes up to the left of me, doesn't notice me, this is the first time I've gotten a good look at him and he is majestic big and beautiful. he slowly walks sniffing and walks right up to the blind I hunted the night before smells a mock scrape that I made and continues to J hook out in front of me getting closer to the incense and down wind of me. now he's coming into range and I'm getting might excited , he starts sniffing the ground looks right up which seems like he's looking right at me as I'm looking through my cross bow scope at him... turns around raises the white tail and does 2 leaps and disappears.
I'm washing my clothing with hunters detergent, taking a shower with hunters soap, keeping my clothing in a tote in my car, wearing rubber boats, spraying my self down with scent killer and all my gear before I go in.
all and all its been extremely exciting and a quality hunt. i don't think I would like it or appreciate it as much if i shot him with a rifle or shotgun as i easily could. this is challenging and intriguing. I took yesterday off and don't think i will go back out till Friday as this hunt has consumed me and i need a break for my own sanity and my family's hahhaa.
any input or words of encouragement would be much appreciated. I have also got the draw for " any deer" shot gun at another neighboring WMU which i have set up a stand at and will try to get a doe to fill the freezer because i heard they are better eating but i think i got buck fever.
