If you thought SKS prices are crazy here....

Did you even watch the video, or just start seeing red at "anymore"?

The comment was inappropriate as a response to my comment.

I am not seeing red and why should I trust you or some guy making a youtube video.

I have had excellent experiences on gunbroker a few years ago sorry no, my experience does not match some disgruntled moron who got ripped off. There are bad deals and bad sellers and buyers anywhere.

You can't blame gunbroker for individuals trying to abuse the auction site, as well as you cannot blame gunnutz for bad EE deals.

Strange prices for certain guns like this is not a new thing , 25-30 yrs ago at Canadian gun shows, some US fellows would offer huge money for stuff that I knew could not be imported into the States.

SO decades ago person was paying big money for single shot shotguns, odd. Then he wanted to know what gun could be used to shoot down helicopters!
No one would talk to the guy after the word spread.

Interesting... I've always found the SKS to be inferior, particularly in terms of precision. Many (not all) are minute of pie plate for precision. The AK platform isn't great, but it's better than that.

As for reliability, that isn't really a huge problem with AKs.
Weight? AK is lighter by over a pound.
Ease of cleaning? Meh.. no major hiccups with either.

I'm curious what's driving these statements that SKS is a more preferred rifle. <totally confused>

When I had the choice between the AK and the SKS, it didn't take more than one stressful situation with each of them to decide which platform suited me best.

The SKS took it hands down. Big difference in handling, weight is actually heavier, with a full magazine and it changes the balance as the mag empties. Also, burns up a lot more ammo, even if it's on semi auto selection.

Every SKS I shot at the time would outshoot any AK available. Sight picture is identical and muzzle rise is up and to the right with the AK in a much more aggressive manner. Full auto is strictly a spray and pray option.

I never had an issue with a misfire or a jam with an SKS. AKs can be finicky, highly dependent on ammunition quality. The SKS went bang, every time.

I've never been comfortable with a pistol grip, a lot of people aren't. As much as I admire AR platforms, they just don't work for me and I've put a few thousand rounds through them to make sure it wasn't a one off.

I and others don't like a Loooooonnnnnngggg magazine sticking out the bottom of the rifle, acting like a keel or the fact that I can't shoot it from a prone position, without exposing to much of myself.

There are a lot of good things to be said about either platform. For my own personal use, the SKS platform works better.

There's no reason a SKS receiver couldn't be made from stampings. Whether that can be done efficiently and economically remains to be seen.[/QUOTE]

The Chinese made some with stamped receivers, but realized they weren't as good as the milled ones.

Respect. Thanks for your contribution and real world insight.

the albanian sks has a wood stock that is longer and the gas tube cover , covers the entire gas tube.
the cocking handle is also a hook rather than a knob.
My wife's cousin in serbia has one and he is holding it in one of the family photos we have.
He hunts wild boar with it regulary.

Also, the bore is not chrome lined, so a lot of the ones sold as surplus are sewer pipes.
