Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Purchased June 9th, looks like transfer initiated June 11/12th according to the numbers..

reference #5930###

I ordered from Tenda on June 1st and received a transfer notice from them on June 20th. So I guess Tenda sat on it before initiating the transfer. Probably because the entire country is buying handguns at the same time.

Purchased it on the same date from Tenda and got reference on the 20th, does it mean they initiated the transfer on the 20th or they did it within few days of the purchase? I heard they were severely behind...

Looking at post #1983 and post #2006, and given the fact that approx. 19000 of the 60000 transfers initiated in June were from Ontario, consider the following.

July 5th #5882### was transferred
July 12th #5885### was transferred

That's a separation of about 3000 transfers. Which means Ontario is now processing about 1000 transfers per week (since we expect 30% of those transfers to be from Ontario). A big improvement from the ~350 / week between June 27 and July 5.

At this rate, we can expect the following progress:
July 19 - 5888###
July 26 - 5891###
Aug 2 - 5894### (probably lower due to Civic holiday weekend)
Aug 9 - 5897###
Aug 16 - 5900###
and so on...

Post #1982 mentioned references 5934### and 596###X were initiated on June 11 and July 11 respectively.
That means it will take to Nov 1 to process up to June 11 and to Jan 3rd, 2023 to process up to July 11.

I forgot to end my message with my opinion. Dealer I bought from last week estimates 2 months... Seeing what's happening here, my estimate is 2-3 months if bought/complete transfer today. And if this freeze happens, let's hope initiated transfers are exempt.

My understanding is that if you get a transfer registration # it will be processed regardless of the timeline and that the upcoming ‘freeze’ in October would be on issuing any new transfer #’s.

My friend you are assuming the extrapolation in linear.
Government bureaucrats may pose polynomial regressions especially when close to holiday

Transferred 2 to my son on May 30 (morning of the announcement of the “freeze”) and got the TAN today July 13, 45 days total. Now waiting on 2 purchases made first week of June and 5 more transferred to my son (paper submission received June 13 at CFP).

Hey - is it possible that they delay the vast majority of these into September when the ban finalizes? Meaning that they could then cancel all pending transfers?

Set up an anonymous form where people can enter transfer initiation date and first 4 digits of reference # haha

Too bad there isn't more transparency to the process: somthing like a public web site indicating which range of transfers are being transfered similar to the "Now serving" line-up.

BTW, here are mine all still outstanding (all are from dealers - two in Ontario, one in Manitoba):

Bought 31 May - 5890###
Bought 31 May - 5893###
Bought 7 July - 5962###
