Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

So, if I'm reading and interpreting the tables correctly, June 3 and 4 transfers, in theory, should have been processed and completed by now?

Not really, there is offset to consider. They are currently processing May 31, meaning you need to add the cumulative days to when they start processing June 1st. Also i use 50 per day for Ontario, not 200. This is based on few datapoint I have gathered. Not very accurate.

Okay, thanks. I have yet to hear so much as a peep from our betters in regard to June 3 and 4. My off the cuff prediction based on it taking Ontario as long as 8 weeks (in my experience) at the best of times, is that I won't hear anything at all until some time into the fall hunting season.

Must be something else going on. I still don't have any of my transfers from 31 May approved: 5890*** & 5893***

This is the one I like to go with. This estimates your 5890 will be this next week and 5893 closer to early august

Looking at post #1983 and post #2006, and given the fact that approx. 19000 of the 60000 transfers initiated in June were from Ontario, consider the following.

July 5th #5882### was transferred
July 12th #5885### was transferred

That's a separation of about 3000 transfers. Which means Ontario is now processing about 1000 transfers per week (since we expect 30% of those transfers to be from Ontario). A big improvement from the ~350 / week between June 27 and July 5.

At this rate, we can expect the following progress:
July 19 - 5888###
July 26 - 5891###
Aug 2 - 5894### (probably lower due to Civic holiday weekend)
Aug 9 - 5897###
Aug 16 - 5900###
and so on...

Post #1982 mentioned references 5934### and 596###X were initiated on June 11 and July 11 respectively.
That means it will take to Nov 1 to process up to June 11 and to Jan 3rd, 2023 to process up to July 11.

SFRC purchase May 31. Ok as soon as I saw your question I just got the email! So approved today July 14.

My assumptions, Ontario is 1/3, They process 50/day (including weekends ;) I am allowed to dream) :
Thanks for data, here is my estimates on approx when we will hear back:

Will update as we get more datapoints.

I hope I am wrong.

I have one in the system. Ontario business to private Purchased late in the day Tuesday May 31, but looks like the transfer was finally submitted by the shop June 2.

Transfer number pretty much the middle of 5896###.

Still nothing

My May 25 purchase with transfer # 5878### was approved June 21 27 days total, 20 business days.

Sadly, I half jokingly predicted here and elsewhere that I would get the approvals during hunting season and or Boxing Day. Unfortunately according to the updated table it looks like I was bang on. I really hate this stupidly slow and redundant system that is in place.

I'm 500 off from you, my guess is sometime early next week for me :-(

Well I just got my approval now.

Seems like MAYBE they are speeding up a bit. Almost 500 done within half a day so far today

My ref # 58868XX

Only 7000 between this one and my June 1st purchase

58868XX - 58940XX (see how long this takes now)

I am on 58959XX initiated on June 3, it's 2000 away from your 58940XX.

In this case, I really hope you are wrong too. :) But Thank you for putting this together! Really appreciate it.

Unless someone has proof otherwise, I think we really need to stop assuming the reference numbers are given in sequential order, it is very likely that they skip by 2s, 5s or 10s depending on factors (clerk processing, certain numbers used for certain days, etc.)

Lets all just collectively call the CFO and scream into the phone until they get through every last transfer, they love it when they get screamed at and it motivates them to work faster.

-ontario can do 500 transfer per week

Sorry, but how the actual fvck are they only doing 1,000 per week? The RCMP sends them all the info and then they do what exactly... physically compare electronic RCMP records to their own, simply checking that the names, address, and numbers match? Like sh!t, the system could be automated flipping through a dozen or two transfer per minute and maybe only flagging high volume (individual, not business) buyers and sellers for manual review?

It should only average 5 min per transfer request if the above is assumed to be correct... they should easily be able to pump out 1,000+ / week with 3 people working on it... 350 / week is equivalent to one guy spending 6 min per transfer (average)... either their process is extremely convoluted/inefficient or they really only do have 1 full time guy on it which explains why they slowly creep months behind until they bring in a second temporary guy to help clear the backlog.

And for what it's worth I submitted a complaint to the Ombudsman yesterday, two weeks after my transfer started, June 29 #59542xx, add me to the data set. Wolf is there any way you can post the spreadsheet?

Edit: Also, just started a private transfer and buyer called in and did his part (July 14), #59684xx, add that to the tracking too.
