The T97 Thread!

Thanks guys, I've only been to the range with it once but they all seem to work good in mine.

Next queation: The magazine release looks like a generic piece from an AR, has anyone installed an aftermarket unit?

at the end of the day, what is the current consensus, type 97 at 1300 or the X95 so much better that it justifies being 2x price

Not compatible.

If you go on youtube and look for Yul Parts, a guy made one specifically for the T97 and it works great. You send him an email, and he mails you the part. But he probably made his single run years ago who knows if he still has any.

I've owned both. The T97 is viable choice if you're on a tight budget, but if you can afford it, you are getting way more than twice the rifle with the X95.

I believe the carry handle gen 1 had issues with feeding and gas ports drilled incorrectly

Only some and only in the first run. You can tell what year they were made by the first 2 digits of the serial number. I think they start at 13xx and the higher you go, the less likely you are to get a lemon.

You can swap it out with an AR one but it isn’t a direct drop in. You need to do some fitting. The threads on the t97 mag catch are different then AR so you either need to drill/tap the original mag release button or Dremel the AR one down so it will fit. It’s not really hard but does take a bit of time.

I see Tenda has the Kel Tec on for about $500 more than a Gen 3 T-97

Thoughts???

I got one before the changes. Great gun also. Mag release is weird, and I burn myself if I rest on the bench since it ejects out the back.

But both function great.

Honestly.. whichever you want.

I’ve tried looking but can’t seem to find the definitive answer. What is difference between a gen 2 and gen 3? I had thought it was keymod vs mlok, but I’m seeing gen 3s being offered with both.

G2= KEYMOD, G3= MLOK

Realistically they could probably both be classified as Gen 2 because the only thing different is what type of mounting system is offered on them. There may have been some very slight improvements to the feed ramp on the mlok Gen 3...

Anyone who is offering a key mod Gen 3 is either misinformed and actually offering a Gen 2, or has both and swap the top rail, but if the ladder is the case is the Gen 3 really a gen 3 if it doesn't have M lock if that's 99% of what differentiates a gen 3 from a Gen 2? Lol

Since it looks like the T97 LHG is sold out and no indication it'll come back, anyone have thoughts on something like this, or tried anything similar?

Seems reasonably easy and the polymer is probably strong enough, despite the fact that I like the look & functionality over stock there's something I can't put my finger on that makes me skeptical.
