Just reviewing the 309 pages released by the CCFR today.
Everything is in there. Everything with a detachable mag for sure, but mentioned specifically includes Garands, M1s, FN49s, SVT 40s, AG42, MAS 49s, Johnsons, TNW belt feds.
It's like they went shopping on the EE the past two years and added it to a spreadsheet.

This year has been the biggest kick in the junk to milsurp collectors ever. All handguns and semis - headed to a smelter eventually if this passes and sticks. And the only way it does not stick is if the CPC wins majority. That is the only way they got rid of the LGR, and only way they walk this back.

For a 173 grain bullet to hit 10k joules of energy, it would have to be hauling balls at over 4,400 FPS. That's reasonable, right? Lol

My guess would be they were used as a basis to build safari rifles?

The Ruger no1 is on the list. I can only pray that only no1s in cartridges that exceed 10k J would be prohib but I don't see anything that specifies that.

I wondered about that too. It doesn't specify "No 1 models chambered in a cartridge capable of exceeding 10k joules of energy", it just says "Ruger No 1". If it's all-encompassing, there's going to be a lot of pissed off people that previously didn't give a sh!t about our black rifles getting banned.

Oh yeah. This is going to impact a LOT of people who don't own a single semi auto if its all-encompassing.

WTF is a Mauser sporter? We talking 96s? 98s? Both? Neither? That one alone could account for THOUSANDS of hunting rifles - think of all the 6.5x55s and 8x57s out there...

this is the FIRST milsurp bolt action to be prohibited that I know of, worthy of a new post.

Well you can pop the champagne if you have Liberals start banning bolt action milsurps on your gun ban BINGO card. Here we go with the next and final step to a total gun ban in Canada.


On page 437 there it is. z.0068. MAUSER 1908 BRAZILIAN RIFLE. You can find the new ban list on the CCFR website to download.

And under it is "Mauser sporter" Like all Mauser sporters???

I think this is the first milsurp bolt action to be put on the prohib list, but I am sure more are coming. This is how they do it. One step at a time.

Your maximum donation to a political party is $1650/year. Time to start cutting cheques before the end of this one, and a new one in January....

so the ban is for semi auto guns with attachable mag but also for all guns with internal mag.

also sniper bolt action rifles banned.

I guess we know whats the next buzz word ;)

You got it, they are going after everything. They even named the Mauser 1915. I had to look it up, extremely rare, are there any even in Canada? They left no stone unturned on this new list.
 
Stop with the handwringing. Everything is at the whim of the Liberals. There are 3 million gun owners in Canada and they are all of voting age. Get politically active; talk this up among family and friends, join and donate to the CPC which is the only legislative solution to this, volunteer come election time, give to an organization like the CSSA and write your MP. As long as the left rules it will only get worse.

Scoped hunting rifles of any caliber now to known as “ sniper style rifles”.
