Update On Ontario Restricted Transfer Times

Not arguably at all. It would dramatically improve speed for everyone. It's fact.

When reviewing a transfer, a CFO person opens the file in the CFC's IBM ERP system. They check the lincensee's information. They then look at the licensee's file in CPIC (the police information system) to ensure you have no recent domestic complaints, no new criminal activity, etc. If you don't have any, and the fireamr info in the ERP system looks correct, they approve the transfer and e-mail you an auto-generated approval document. They click an "approved" box in the CFC system that triggers to the CFC to issue registration certificates by mail. That's it.

When they open your file in the ERP system, they immediately see all your other pending transfers and could just click "approve all". But they don't... because, well, unions and job security and stuff.

Every batch transfer done, shortens the number of transfers standing between you and your next transfer approval. To think otherwise represents a complete misunderstanding of how this system was set up by IBM to work.

Welcome to Kanada.

Haha ya I was just trying to be friendly about it. Do you think that the reason is job security? I mean at this point if I was there I’d be looking at other jobs ahah.

I am guessing that's part of it, but it could also be like any bureaucracy where things have been done a certain way forever, and the prospect of doing things differently is unthinkable and scary without solid leadership to press for change.

It's amazing how many places buy productivity software and then turn off all the productivity features and use the suite as a digital twin of the crappy paper process they were trying to replace.

RTC (Reluctance To Change) is the reason and the government thrives on it. !!!

Viewing RCMP IWS using the ATT method. To my surprise, I have a new one business to private restricted on the list but no email confirmation.

Does anyone know when I'll get an email if it hasn't been sent yet?

I can only assume it was approved today or yesterday. Don't have transfer number on me at the moment but it was initiated on July 10th. Wolf's chart is spot on.

Interesting one today, buddy got one approved, Alberta private to Ontario private, 59926XX, initiated August 11th approved today by the ALBERTA CFO. Sounds like the seller talked to the CFO agents at the gun show today and asked them to approve it? Maybe that's an avenue we can take, ask the private sellers in Alberta to ask their CFO to approve the transfers and that might help out the backlog a little?

Some emails come shortly afterwards but I’d call the store and tell them the transfer has been completed.
