Weatherbys Mk Vs... thoughts?

That is not what it says.

The regulation says "capable" the liberals have gone with the idea that if the action can support the energy, it's banned

I am not defending the Libs but the capable definition interpretation for 10k joules was defined as only the rifles chambered in that caliber.

Expensive stuff but soon not available as RCC just went bankrupt :(
And i have some 375 Whelen AI ordered for myself.... :(
Clay

Clay, I can understand them going bankrupt, a miniscule of hunters would purchase their product, it makes Weatherby brass seem like a deal. Prices for everything has gone NUTS!

Didn’t you hear? CGN legal experts decided a long time ago this is not the case, based on their stellar reading comprehension skills.

I will be trading tinfoil hats for mk V and ruger no 1. Should make a killing

Did we have a rash of gang shootouts with .50 cal Bolt actions or are they using .460 Weatherby’s now in their turf wars? Where is the statistical evidence this will have any impact on crime. Do any of the woke commonwealth countries have a 10k joules ban? Or did we invent this in Canada?

lol you re trying to put a logic where there is not ... the reasoning behind it from poly is that a projectile going that fast can perforate personal protection and vehicle protection (armoured plates) as well ...

well did you read the listing on firearms nothing was mentionned on the specific caliber that will be banned for each and individual firearms listed ...

but you re right you should get all of those for the price you want them ...

I tend to agree with you, but it is a bit difficult to be comfortable with this wording. It goes sort of like this " all firearms capable of 10, 000 joules including Mark V, Mauser sporters, Ruger 1 etc.

The INCLUDING part concerns me regardless of how many Liberals tell us not to worry about it.

What do they have to gain from banning hunting rifles? Does any western democracy ban hunting rifles outright?

I’m not in favour of any ban, if I had it my way out gun laws would make the USA look like Great Britain

“ never attribute to malice what you can to incompetence” comes to mind on the awkward wording

I’m not going to take the CGN brain trust and one autistic lawyer in a fedoras word on anything thanks…

Never had any use or desire for one.

That said, it is a firearm.

Like all firearms, there can be no justification for banning it.

They stated only the 10k joules models will be banned… It’s fine to run with this with the public but don’t exaggerate with our own…

Who really knows? The list doesn’t mention calibres, only the FRT does, and Smith previously testified that the FRT is not law as part on ongoing court action against the 2020 OIC. In that context, why would anyone trust anything that Smith says. Ultimately, this will be decided in court one day, after someone gets caught and charged. Nothing makes sense; the whole thing should be scrapped and rewritten entirely…

This is exactly how I see it. It's also likely that there is no intention to enforce it. However, if retailers and manufacturers cease selling the product it will dissappear over time regardless.

"Guys, the whole gun control narrative is just a conspiracy theory." - This guy
Keep giving them the inches and they're keep taking the miles. Compromise was our first mistake.

Re the original question in this thread:
I own a WB MK V in 257 WBY Mag. And it’s an ultralight. When I first shot it that ultralight would literally leap in the sandbags. The whole thing would jump up and back, that’s what 75 gr of powder does in an ultralight. So I put about 4lb of lead shot in the butt (did it so it’s removable) and made it a regular weight hunting rifle. It doesn’t shoot the greatest, ok it doesn’t shoot very good at all, the best I can get out of it is 1.5.” And I’ve tried all kinds of things, change the barrel rest in the fore end, free floated it, bedded the action and the first inch, then removed the first inch, even had half inch cut off the chamber end of the barrel and re-chambered to a more conventional throat length, all to no avail. Most weatherby’s shoot really well, but mine doesn’t.

That’s my story on a WB. But why would you want to buy a Mk V and chamber it in an anemic round such as the 6.5CM? That belongs elsewhere such as a savage or a CZ. Thats like putting a Chevette motor into a Cadillac. Save the Weatherby’s for the WB cartridges. Again, that’s just my thots.

They have a short action 6 lug, plus if Weatherby only sold Weatherby cartridges they would be tits up.
I have a Vanguard in 257W, it's MOA on a bad day, recoil is not much more then a heavy 308 load. It's not as pretty as the MkV, but it gets the job done.

I keep getting tempted by those Vanguards in 240 and 257, never seem to pull the trigger though.
