The new NR NoDak Spud NDS 18SC

Whiskey1 is making an ACR style folding stock that fits buffer tube sockets. It is new and unknown, but another manufacturer just switched their product line to use it, so hopefully that is a good sign. Might be a good option for the NoDak Jakl if keeping the buffer tube socket is required. Just FYI, further investigation is needed, as nothing else is known about it yet.

Just 2 more weeks [z] trust the plans comrades for real this time (Don't play with my heart irgs)

Is this another made in Canada, AR-180b clone, Frankenstein gun?

Guns that are worn out by the time the barrel is newly broken are already available

this post is poking for more info... I don't think irgs would build a lemon

Seriously though, I really hope something quality becomes of this. 4 years of waiting for a Canadian spec AR180 clone that isn't trash. Will be watching very closely with fingers crossed!

If memory serves where we're at now is a PSA Jakl upper mated to a Nodak 180 lower. Hope it does coe to fruition, would be a nice option to have up here.

How limited will the Chico and the NDS x Jakl rifles be once they are ready to order? I hope there is a lot of them in production...
Everyone and their dog is going to place an order once they are ready to ship and I bet half of those show up on the EE shortly after that, as "brand new, unfired" and marked up at least 10% from retail. Hoping to be able to buy one new when they drop and not on the scalper market!

Machined Lower looks very similar to one of the older IRG prototype updates in this thread, if the guestimates are correct, this would be a Modified PSA Jakl upper mating to a billet machined lower, essentially giving you a a hybrid AR180 type lower that could actually use all AR parts like the old NR versions (think ATRS/SLR) allowing one to use higher end or custom stuff. Massive improvement in quality compared to the WK/WS/Sterling counter parts.
TBH after breaking all the other AR180s in way or another, this may be something id actually look forward to!

P.S. They cant use an "unmodified" Jakl upper as that would make it an AR variant. so no, this most likely wont be compatible to the actual PSA Jakl.

Id just like to state, I'd sell my bren and buy this plus multiple uppers if IRGs does the pro gamer move of actually getting these to market

Sell your Bren! Literally one of the best general purpose rifles in the world. If you look at the reviews of the brownells upper reviewers say it's at best equivalent to a rack grade AR. No cold hammer forged barrels, carbon fiber reinfornced lower, etc.

Both Bren 2 and PSA Jakl are "so-so" platforms, both have a known number of issues and don't stand to the outdated, but proven and perfected AR15. Maybe Bren 3 and next gen Jakl would be better, because they are both indeed modern and more promising when all issues are resolved... TBH I have more faith in PSA than in CZ, after dealing with Trail and Bren 2. At least design-wise Jakl is more promising than Bren 2.

"Best" indeed. And that's why they almost immediately after getting feedback from Ukraine produced Gen 3. All the Gen 2 issues could have been easily resolved at the trials stage (and some at design stage), but they were not addressed at all. They did not invest in proper testing. They left it to customer. Absolutely stupid issues that anyone with decent experience with firearms could see. This tell that CZ gave almost zero facks to the proper platform testing.

The x39 variants had some issues that are addressed now from what I hear. The 556 Bren's are great guns, maybe you can critize them being overgassed, most 16 inch AR's are also quite gassy. You can always upgrade to HBI gas port for 100$.

That is so surface scratching. Dozen of issues were known and several ppl including me had mentioned them on CGN specifically for 556 version. Then Gen 3 was announced. They addressed only SOME of known issues. If they had only "overgassing" issue (which I don't consider an issue for a battle rifle) then why did they make changes in Gen 3? Where is logic here? And you would still insist that only "issues" are being a bit over gassed?
I did not keep comprehensive list, but here's what I recalled when I looked at Gen 3 - https://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/threads/cz-bren-3.2460470/post-20254999

P.S. I think we're going off topic here. Let's keep it at least on the level of speculation of IRG-PSA hybrid vs Bren 2 vs AR15 (as a pretty much standard in North America).

I really hope they put that upper on a diet and get it slimmed down or at least have a slim barrel profile underneath.

Also hope the recess for the bolt release gets elongated so that I can throw a bad lever on there without resorting to Dremel work.

I may be the odd one out here, but I’d also ditch the non-reciprocating (assumption) charging handle complication and just go full retro charging handle/brass deflector combo like the BRN-180 uppers.
