I was able to pick up changing and modifying .stl files very fast with YouTube and just messing around. I've been using meshmixer. I haven't designed anything right from scratch. Many years I've done it, but too long ago to remember anything. But with 3d scanners and so many files available online, the options are still endless with some determination, time and money. Idk what I'll do with my printer once the project is done. Another tool in the tool chest is the way I look at it.Cool project. Seeing threads like this really make me want to get a 3d printer, see if CAD is still as intuitive as I found it 20 years ago...
Really Kool! The thing I was wondering straight away, was the stock..if she'll hold up.Āæ. Many - MANY years ago, I had a SPAS, I believe SPA 15? It was not the prohibited one, & was a pump only SG, but it has the same kool folding stock. I've seen someone on here with one, doing a similar thing as you. Pretty sure those are pretty hard to come by now-a-days. Nice Work! This is the second attempt to print the folding stock. Was a 20hr print. First one failed somewhere in the 85% area, the piece fell off my printer. This second attempt I wasn't home for when it finished, and looks like she got a little too hot and kinda melted the tip. I'm going to see if I can salvage it by sanding it down and using some jbweld or even the same nylon filiment to build it back up. That being said, the part "should" be usable.View attachment 830275View attachment 830276View attachment 830277
I seen a heatshield hit ebay, but it was 1500$Really Kool! The thing I was wondering straight away, was the stock..if she'll hold up.Āæ. Many - MANY years ago, I had a SPAS, I believe SPA 15? The Spas 12 is one of the most egregious examples of how idiotic, nonsensical and based-on-feelings our gun laws are. Pump shotguns are totally legal, semi-auto shotguns are totally legal, but a pump/semi that looks scary because hollywood? BANNED.Really Kool! The other most egregious example is the SVD Dragunov - only ever made as a semi auto, in a different caliber than an AK, designed by a completely different dude than the AK, using a completely different operating system than an AK, in a totally different caliber that predates the AK by like 100 years, with zero interchangeable parts with an AK - banned as an "AK Variant."
The absolute b*******tery that went into that decision is mind boggling.
Anywho, just had to rant, back onto this lovely topic bound to make liberals cry.![]()
Thanks. I'm not sure if I could actually sell much of a kit. The only thing 3d printed now at this point is the forgrip, heatshield, and grip.Beautiful work, the spas12 is one of the large list of guns banned before I was born that I wish I could get, if you do sell kits put me down for one
Thanks. This is one of the coolest mods Iāve seen in a while.
Was going to do this to my Hatsan semi and 3D print the forend shroud.
Actually got to handle and shoot a genuine SPAS-12 not long ago and was HUGELY disappointed with how not intuitive it is lol. But the nostalgia still makes it the coolest.
Love what you did
