Crusader arms backland

It didn’t at first but does now
I have a bit of an issue with it while shooting but it might be the way I am holding it
After I shoot a couple rounds the bolt hold activates, I might accidentally be holding it while I shoot because the gun has no pistol grip
I haven’t shot it again so not sure if it’s me or as issue with the rifle
I shoot lefty as well

Oh good! Some of these in the wild!

How do the internals look?

Internals look good
No crappy grinding or machining that I see.
It does use a Turkish M4 trigger group but it works like it’s supposed to

Another thing I noticed with the rifle is that after it’s charged and you release the bolt it has some resistance as it goes home on an empty mag or no mag inserted and I think the bolt is dragging over the hammer a bit
If you release the bolt slowly with the charging handle it will sometimes even get hung up
Next time I take it apart I will try to get some pics of what’s inside

At the 7 minute mark he says it takes a proprietary bolt carrier group but takes standard AR bolts.
yeah saw that, but wondering if the devil is in the details - ie, an ar15 bolt modified to purpose - perhaps shortened to work with the new bcg. regardless, presume the modifications could be replicated easy enough. if AR barrel then should be an easy enough swap; would make a fine truck gun in 7.62x39 or grendel. or 300. or 450. or ...

The BCG's are left over Crypto AR15 BCG's they butchered with a bandsaw, angle grinder and drill press.

That is Crusader Arms definition of "proprietary" LOL.

Put just over 200 rounds through it yesterday. First 30-40 shots were frustrating…feeding issues and light strikes. For the first few mags it seemed like every 5 rounds there was at least one round that wouldn’t strip completely and go into battery and one light strike. As I got up to about 50 rounds, the issues began to occur less and less. By 75-80 rounds, it was running smooth and there was only one stoppage after that and that was my fault not seating the mag properly. Seeing as this is essentially a shotgun trigger pack and shotgun action, wondering if this was due to the usual break in associated with a semiauto shotgun…

Once zeroed, accuracy was as good as any AR I own. Was able to put 25 rounds in the black at 100m seated with only my elbow resting on the bench using 55gr Norinco white box ammo. I am pretty confident that with a decent rest or bipod and using better ammo could have kept all rounds in the white centre. That will be the next test.

After that it was mag dump time -100 rounds steady, some as fast as i could go, others just with a steady cadence and finally the last 30 rounds just as controlled pairs. Not a single hiccup except for the aforementioned mag seating / user error.

Internals are not nearly as horrible as the video and I assume because they had the prototype for review…not necessarily the choice I would make for a first look at a new rifle I was marketing, but hey…not my call. I don’t mind the machining at all but I am not a machinist - I just care that it works and so far it does.

Overall, very happy with this rifle. I think the aesthetics are awesome…was always a fan of the Jesse James Califas Nomad and the Fightlite SCR so not a stretch there…and looks like now that it is broken in it runs really well and has enough accuracy to hunt with. Glad I bought it.

Thanks for the info! Do you have a spare AR bolt assembly to confirm if it sits properly in the modified carrier? Thanks!
