I did move from Makasi to Carmel....but that was my choice. Not gonna tell people they are *insert name here* for sticking with their pre-order.

I also hope once these and the Carmel get here we get some cool Canadian innovation for parts etc.

You are very welcome for whatever value you have derived from my posts over the years. I too find this bickering over new offerings to be quite silly and counterproductive in all seriousness, so I won't feed the troll any further. Everyone is free to buy whichever platform appeals to them, which is an ideal situation, really. At least we have choices. Limited choices, yes - but a selection nonetheless. I've laid out my reasons for selecting one over the other, and will leave it at that. I really do hope that everyone is happy with their purchase, regardless of which they've chosen.

If we can ever get out from under the OIC, selection won't be a problem with everything freed up after 6 years of collecting dust. My final shred of optimism rests with the outcome of the Supreme Court appeal. Fingers crossed.

I certainly hope so, however Carney has had plenty of off-ramps up to this point and has doubled-down every time. This is not just a recent fad with these people (liberals) - it has been a "quiet" part of their manifesto to relieve Canadians of the burden of firearms ownership at the first possible opportunity since Pierre senior ruled the roost. A leopard doesn't change its spots......

That’s my plan too. I’ve got a deposit on 2 Makasi’s and a Carmel. Got one with Tenda and one somewhere else just in case one comes in earlier at one store. I will end up with 3 guns. I will keep one of each and a second of whichever is my favourite.

I was a teenager in the 90s with size 13 feet. Buying shoes then was not like it is now. You had the choice of one pair at a store if you were lucky.

We get to choose from 2 rifles now. Under the circumstances, I'd call that lucky.

My personal agenda is to retain and burn in my skills with the beloved jailed system. Makasi is a better training tool for that. One day when the system is out of jail by any chance, the transition back is instant. I also accept this is not a HK416 or colt canada, or not even a BCM, and therefore treat it accordingly. This is not a defence product - this is an American made consumer sporting gun. This means there will be WTF moments - like "are you really surprised they did this??"

Carmel is more likely a work out of the box solution, it is a defence product - If I just want to stash it somehwere and neglect it will most likely work better than the Makasi with less quirks. It won't wreck your knuckles with some questionable consumer grade "improvement" thinking. However, it is full of old "israelis' ergonomics and you have to move past that. It was designed to be made by India and latin america - this means it was designed to "work" even when they are made by questionable places, like X95. If India can make it, it can be made by anyone it will still work. I have handled the US sample few years back, and I could see where it came from.
