Tikka T3 Lite, good gun?

I'm considering getting one in .243 left handed for my youngest lad to use.
Very good choice. My friend bought his sone a .308. They are very light and the action is sooooo smooth. They look like a toy but in action are very easy to get off a quick shot.

So I've been thinking of getting a ss varmint for awhile now but here's a question;
when you get a stainless one out of the plastic, are the hidden parts stainless as well?
Thanks

Come on 303Carbine, anything will "fall" if you take it out of the stock with out support, plastic or wood. Guns cannot defy gravity last I checked.
Perhaps you meant to type "fail"??
Thanks for your enlightening bits of wisdom, no really.

Actually, I seem to recall a plastic ring in the area of the recoil lug (under the forward action screw) that fell out the first time I took apart one of my Tikka 695's. I would be careful to keep an eye out for those.

I just bought a T3 Lite Stainless in 9.3x62.
I haven't shot it yet and I suspect it maybe fairly unkind to the shoulder although (slightly) less nasty than a 338 Win Mag.
I may be picking up another rifle next year and it will definitely be a toss up between a Ruger No1a 7x57 (which I've had a crush on for as long as I've been shooting) and T3 Hunter Stainless in 7x64 Brenneke.
Both are calibres easy to load for with a wide range of projectiles.
I really wish however, that Tikka made the Super Varmint in 7x64.
What is really odd is that you can order it in 9.3x62!!
Exactly what sort of varmints need a 286gr SP??!!

Perhaps I should have been clearer. Plastic doesn't bother me, it doesn't rust.
I'm more concerned with all the little metal peices that are hidden by the stock. Are they stainless or just regular steel ?
Thanks

stainless....

I've had 3 of them, sold them due to the short mag length and the inline feeding...

The T3 Lite Stainless in 30-06 is a fantastic shooter. Seriously accurate gun, you would not be disappointed.

Short mag length - are they that problematic or were you trying to seat bullets right out?
And did yours tend to feed badly?

Not much play room, you pretty much are stuck with factory OAL. I found with partitions, the noses were getting pinched while inserting the mag, even while doing it carefully...

The inline fed mag annoys me in that you have to take the mag out to put another shell in it. IMO its an inferior system compared to my Sako mag, which is staggered and can be topped up through the action.

Other than that, I liked the 3 I had, and I don't mind the plastic...

The CZ has the same problem with detachable mags so I always buy spares unless its an internal only model!

the sales rep at WSS today was saying I should get a Tikka T3 Lite. for the price they're unbeatable. I had just been playing with a Savage 111 or 116 or something (their kit rifle) and I noticed that the bolt was a lot smoother. was lighter as well.

if someone wants to trade a T3 in .270 ,30.06...maybe .300 WM for a NEW Gaming Computer, message me!

how well are the barrel's free floated? this might need a whole new thread in and of itself...but what are some pro's/con's of the short actions vs. long actions? shorter throw for the bolt...lighter weight? what else?
