intersting conversation with the Remington guys today

Gents,

My company deals with the DOS staff all the time. We had better get use to not getting short barrelled ARs, collapsible stocks, mildot scopes, 50 cals....etc the list goes on. Things are going to get worse so bear that in mind. The Dept of State is not granting licences for a whole host of things. Little things that were minor in nature will rapidly become unobtanium. Worst of it is...there is nothing we can do about...

Stupid question, but is this part of a UN policy to reduce the small arms trade?

Nope...entirely to do with the export controls of military equipment (or deemed military equipment). Heck, the Canadian Army is having trouble getting kit due to the licensing processes....

So no...nothing to do with the UN. The UN sees all firearms with those glasses...not just scarry looking ones...

I hope to hell this is not true.

Somewhere in another thread, someone made the statement to the effect that if you don't own it by 2009, you never will. People in the post brushed that statement off.............

Well, We will just have to make our own. We have the means and the ways;)

I have talk to other that bring in Remington and they also said that they never heard of this, so consider the source!

I have spoken to several dealers in the US and all know of this new rule with the 700P series. A few have told me that basically everything tactical or sniper is no longer permitted for export as has been mentioned here. This has everything to do with the US, no one else. Does it make sense, not at all, but this is the way it is and it is only going to get worse.

And we have read about you.

So consider the source. ;)

I'm not doubting anyone's word on this but we've heard the report from one individual with no other importers having spoken up regarding the issue. I hope it's a case of misleading information that has been passed in error, to Rick. Otherwise, it's more fore warning of what is likely to come.

700 P

:dancingbanana:Picked up a Brand new 700 P from a local gun store this weekend , it's the last one they had , so I thought just in case ?? , It looks good allong side my 5R at least i have one if they become unavaliable:dancingbanana:

I hope aswell........

However Ellwood Epps in Orillia has said about the same thing. Guy I talked to mentioned that "they" (whoever they are) are gonna try and make the P stand for parkerized, as mentioned earlier.

Maybe one day free floating barrels and scopes will be band. Because it makes the gun a sniper rifle.

How does someone get ahold of the Remington Canada guys.. I need to find out if there is a 700 Youth lefty gun in 7-08 in the country.. And if there is where it might be...

I do this with Savage all the time when I can't find a rifle I want and it saves hours of phone calls.

Thanks

Bill

Everyone here are all excited and jump to conclusion because of one person statement.
you guys sounded so concern... call up Remington directly and get the fact straight from the source.
Band this Band that. Shortest of this and that, that is why we are paying a buck thirty for gasoline.
When a company want to drive sale up, What do they do? I think we all know the answer to that.
JMO.

Thats is what my local dealer tells me all the time and some guy buys it. Next week I return to the store and there is it, another one on the displace rack.
